IMT Ghaziabad’s campus life is quite a rigorous and dynamic one. You enter the college all naive and unaware and leave the college as one of the most confident and informed people. They nourish you and make you industry ready.
To get a clearer experience of life at IMT Ghaziabad, I have explained in detail the term-wise experience of my cousin who recently passed out of this college.
First term: Right when you join the college, you will have to sit for interviews to get into various companies, attend classes, attend Personality Development Programs, and do various other assignments. All this will make you extremely busy during the initial months. The term ends with Final Exams which are the most difficult. You can get help from committees that arrange examination sessions.
Second Term: The rigor only increases in the second term. Apart from the regular classes and assignments you now have to get involved in various events held by the committees. You will have to contribute by getting sponsorship for the committee, designing the concept of the event, marketing the event, getting participation, etc. Once the event has been successfully wound up, you can enjoy the IMT Committee parties which are real stress boosters. This term too ends with Final Exams which are the climax of stress and hard work.
Third Term: While many may think that after 2 hectic terms, you will now get accustomed to the rigorous, and the third term may seem a bit less stressful, you are wrong. This term is the most stressful period of the first term owing to the Summer Placements. You have to constantly prepare for placements and the campus is unusually busy and everyone is working hard. During the placement week, the companies visit, and most of the students who get placed are relaxed. Yet the ones who fail to get placed keep preparing as some companies visit after the placement week also. This term also witnessed another round of commuter events which because of clashing with placements are a real challenge. Students somehow manage both together. This term is famous for the great entertainment Management event Passion organized by SAWC and the Cultural Committee. The event ends with a freshers' party and the term ends with Final exams yet again.
Fourth Term: This is the most relaxing term as you are now over with the placements and events. The electives are also fewer and everything sails smoothly. You can relax and prepare well for your internship.

I don't think it offers similar opportunities for finance as well. The placements are pretty good but getting internship offers is difficult for someone who is switching careers from IT to Finance.
So if you really want to pursue a career in Finance after your MBA from IMT Ghaziabad, you can try CFA, and FRM and have some past background in Finance

How is the PGDM executive (fulltime) course of IMT Ghaziabad? How are the placements? How is it compared to IIM Shillong and SPJAIN PGPM?
An executive course is a one-year MBA degree for working professionals, whereas a full-time PGDM is for two regular years, like all other MBA degrees. The executive course at IMT Ghaziabad is quite good. They have concise and to-the-point courses and complete almost the whole two-year program in one year. Placements for executive students may not be as many, as most of them are already working, but they do help in placements for other students.
If you choose to pursue a correspondence course, it does not matter as much where you pursue it.
IIM Shillong, being an IIM, has its own prestige. But when compared to all B-schools Rankings, IMT Ghaziabad is definitely higher up the charts than IIM Shillong or SPJAIN PGDM. If given the option, it would be better to choose IMT Ghaziabad or IIM Shillong over SPJAIN PGDM. If you are looking for a campus experience, Ghaziabad would be a better personal preference.
I got a call from IMT Ghaziabad for DCP. Is it good and are there any chances of it getting upgraded? Should I go for GIM?
IMT Ghaziabad DCP program is one of the best and most coveted among its students. My brother is currently a first-year student of the same and has a lot to say about the course through his experience. He joined the program only after in-depth research. What attracted him the most was the location of the program, Dubai, which is the hub of globalization. Some major highlights of the course are
- The curriculum is similar to that of the IMT Ghaziabad PGDM program but the additional international exposure is the cherry on the top.
- The program is taught by an elite faculty base comprising globally recognized professors. The foreign professors mainly hailing from France, the US, Slovenia, UK offer a broader insight into the international management aspects
- Right after the end of the First Term you are allotted Company Projects. You have to work in accordance with Dubai culture and will learn a lot about the field you are entering. You can do more than one such project also as that will broaden your network and knowledge.
- The marketing enthusiasts get to experience the splendid GITEX (Gulf Info Tech Exhibition). It’s an electronics trade show at the Dubai World Trade Centre that is held twice a year. It is a unique opportunity to gain Sales and Marketing experience.
- Recently the DCP students have made the name of the institution through international companies. Some major achievements include - 4 teams of DCP made it to the finals of the Global Management Challenge with 6 other UAE teams and one DCP team was 4th in the region; The DCP team under the mentorship of Dr. Zalzala won the Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC) in the Middle East and Africa.
- The internship and placement scenario is a bit confusing because in Dubai internships start in January whereas in India internships begin in August.
- The placements take place in India itself and DCP students are treated at par with the regular students. Despite this many companies offer better offers to DCP students mainly because of their widely gained exposure.
