Which is better, VIT Pune EXTC or VIIT Pune CSE?
The first step is to determine if you are interested in electronics or computers. However, you also need to consider the chances of getting a job. The perk of picking electronics over computers is that you can learn the trending programming language and get a job easily which, ultimately, most of the computer science students will also end up getting the same.
VIT would be a far superior overall college than VIIT. Although VIIT students are also allowed to sit with VIT during placements some companies don’t allow them to sit for placements. Choosing CS will make it impossible to take up jobs that are in the core electronics domain.
Overall, I feel VIT Electronics is better than VIIT CS any day.
Which college is better for CS, VIT Pune or VIIT Pune (since both are autonomous now)?
Clearly, VIT Pune is better than VIIT Pune. Although both VIT and VIIT are autonomous under the same trust i.e. Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust, VIT has been operating as an autonomous body for a long time as compared to VIIT. Being in this field for a long period grants them immense experience.

Which college is better for MCA, MIT Pune, VIT Pune or Indira Pune?
Indira Pune is not the best choice for an MCA degree. So I wouldn’t comment about it in my answer.
MIT Pune offers good academics, and VIT Pune is known for its placements and ranking. MIT offers an MCA in Management, whereas VIT offers an MCA in Engineering. MCA in management includes subjects such as Business, Finance, Cost Accounting, etc. MCA in engineering revolves around engineering subjects.
If you have an interest in this degree, join VIT. But if you are simply seeking a job in the Banking/Finance sector, choose MIT.
I would personally recommend you join VIT Pune. It is an autonomous college and its syllabus is regularly updated. But you must make a choice based on your preference.
Which is a better option, IT at VIT Vellore or at VIT Pune?
Here are my honest views on which college you should choose for your B.Tech IT-
VIT Vellore grants admissions based on VITEEE, which is an all India exam. Students from all over India take part in this entrance. On the other hand, VIT Pune grants admissions mainly on the basis of MH-CET, in which a limited number of students participate.
VIT Vellore has a diverse crowd whereas, mostly localities join VIT Pune. Other than that, VIT Vellore follows no reservation policy for its admissions, but MH-CET has a high number of reserved seats.
VIT Vellore offers good placements in B.Tech IT. The campus organizes plenty of competitions, fests and events throughout the year. This college provides plenty of growth opportunities to its students.
For IT, or for any other engineering branch, I would recommend you choose VIT Vellore over VIT Pune.
Which is better in Pune for CSE - MIT-WPU, VIT Pune or PICT?
All three universities namely MIT-WPU, VIT Pune, and PICT are well-known for their computer science and engineering programs in Pune. Here's a brief comparison between the three institutes:
- MIT-WPU MIT is one of the top universities in Pune offering various programs in engineering, including computer science and engineering. It has a well-updated curriculum, experienced faculty, and state-of-the-art infrastructure. It also has ties with international universities that offer exposure to global trends in the field of computer science. The placement percentage is around 80-90%.
- VIT Pune: VIT is also a top engineering institute in Pune with a strong academic foundation and an industry-oriented curriculum. It has ties with several reputed organizations such as IBM, TCS, etc. for training and placement activities. Its placement percentage is around 85-90%.
- PICT: PICT is a well-established institute for computer science and engineering in Pune. It offers good quality education that is delivered by experienced faculty and a strong industry-academia interface. The placement percentage is around 80-85%.
Personally, I will recommend you follow this preference order for CS
PICT>VIT Pune>MIT.
How are placement opportunities in VIT, Pune for instrumentation and control engineering stream?
VIT is an autonomous institute affiliated with Pune University with an amazing placement scenario. Every student with a decent CGPA of around 7.5 is able to get amazing packages from good companies. In 2021, 50 out of 59 students got placed in Instrumentation Engineering with the placement percentage standing at 84.74%. Usually, the placement scenario can be divided into these
- The campus recruitment where companies like MU Sigma, Persistent, Indian Navy Indian Army recruit students of this branch.
- IT companies like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro, also visit the campus.
- Core Instrumentation companies that have recruited students in the past include Uhde India, Jacobs, Emerson Process(Shivajinagar, Pune), Honeywell, Sudarshan Chemicals, Forbes Marshall, and Tetra Pak -
Students with backlogs or less CGPA might face issues during placements.
How are the placements for instrumentation and control branch in Vit pune?
On average, out of the 80 students, only 65 students are eligible to sit for placements. Out of these, a few opt for higher studies so only around 50-55 are left for placements. The main core companies that visit VIT Pune are Emerson, Honeywell, and Tetra Pak. The number of recruitments can be understood through the points below
- Emerson recruits around 8 students.
- Honeywell recruits around 7 students.
- Tetra Pak taken in only 1–2.
These companies offer an average package of around 5.5 LPA. So around 20–25 students will be placed in core companies and other students have to opt for IT companies.
To get good offers,you need a CPI above 8.5 at the end of the third year and also try to get an internship at Emerson.
Is VIT Pune a good choice for pursuing instrumentation and control engineering? What are my other choices?
Yes, VIT Pune is definitely a great choice for Instrumentation engineering in Maharashtra, then you are left with a few choices. In Pune, COEP is best.
- VIT is an autonomous institute so has a well-structured and updated curriculum. semester a mini project is compulsory to impart technical knowledge.
- VIT Pune organizes great Technical, Cultural, and Social activities.
- The academic ambiance is great with minimal workload and supportive staff. The lab facilities are great too.
- The Department has built relations with instrumentation companies.
- Excellent internship opportunities are provided. Placements depend on your marks.
So VIT Pune is an excellent choice for Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
How can we compare KJ Somaiya to DJ Sanghvi and VIT, Pune?
I can give you information about KJ Somaiya and DJ Sanghvi since I have friends from these institutes.
- If you are inclined towards an autonomous university, then KJ Somaiya would be a better choice. Apart from that, you can choose either institute based on how close it is to your location.
- Both the institutes share almost the same placement records. Here is a brief highlight of the same.

DJ Sanghvi and KJ Somaiya offer similar opportunities to the students. However, KJ Somiya offers a better campus life and more academic freedom.

Based on the recent cutoffs you cannot get any branch at MIT Pune in the first round. However, you might get Civil or Chemical in the second round and Mechanical in the third.
It’s impossible to get any branch at VIT Pune unless you have a caste certificate or other such certificates to help you out with the cutoffs. The overall cutoff for MHT-CET is 93.32 - 98.82 percentile.
