I have friends from both RV College of Engineering and MIT Manipal, civil engineering holds the same value from either of them. It is because they both follow the same curriculum and guidelines laid by UGC and AICTE. However, both of them hold an edge over each other in their own way. Here’s why:

• MIT Manipal holds a bigger brand value as civil engineering was one of the branches it started and is known for. Other such branches include chemical and mechanical.
• If you are looking for better placements, RV College might be the right choice as it is located in Bangalore which clearly means more opportunities.
• Even if you are getting a computer science branch in MIT Manipal, go for it without a second thought.

RV College of Engineeringoffers an average package of over 10 LPA for circuital branches. For non-circuital branches, the average CTC offered is around 5 LPA.

A total of 249 companies visited the campus of RV College for placements in 2020 and made 1325. Approximately 200 offers made were for INR 10 LPA+.

Streams:

RV College even offers a larger number of engineering streams as compared to IEM. It gives a lot of choices to students. Among those, CSE/ISE is the most distinguished branch.

The crowd for engineering in RV College is more competent and of better quality than IEM. The reason being that RV College admits quality students as per the COMEDK ranks that are usually within 1000. The CSE branch records even higher competition as the cut-off rank is 500. IEM College accepts students to 3000 rankings in WBJEE.

Both Nirma University and RVCE Bangalore are one of the prestigious colleges in India for Engineering. NIRF 2020 has ranked Nirma University at 131 for engineering. Whereas, RVCE Bangalore is ranked 70 for engineering by NIRF 2020. One thing which also needs to be taken into consideration is that Nirma University is a private University situated in Ahmedabad while RVCE is a semi-autonomous University.

Admission

Nirma University offers BTech courses in various specializations at the UG level for engineering whereas RVCE offers BE degrees.

• RVCE considers the marks of KCET or CET and the 12th marks for creating the merit list, while Nirma University takes the JEE score into account.

• The minimum requirement is 60% in class 12th with a good score in respective exams, to get admission to both of these colleges.

• The course fee for BTech at Nirma University is 7.24 Lakhs. Whereas, RVCE Bangalore charges around 12 lakhs for BE courses.

So, Nirma University has a more affordable course fee for engineering courses.

Placements:

It can be said that both of these colleges have a similar reputation and are visited by the same companies every year, but RVCE University is located in Bangalore which is a hub of Engineering. So the Internship Opportunities and the exposure provided there are a bit better than the Nirma University.

Nirma University:

• The highest CTC offered was of INR 16 LPA, while the average package was 8.2 LPA.

• Many Companies visited the campus with Alembic Pharmaceuticals, Infosys, Tata Motors, Philips, Tata, Amul, Ashok Leyland Daiken, Reliance Industries Limited.

RV College of Engineering:

• There were almost 249 participants last year in the campus placement and they offered 1274 job offers, with top recruiting companies like Deloitte, Amazon, JP Morgan, LinkedIn, Flipkart, Tech Mahindra, Mercedes Benz, Cleartrip, Intel, etc.

• The highest package offered was 52 lacs per annum while the average package offered was 8.63 lacs per annum.

So after seeing all the statistics and comparison between both of these colleges, it can be concluded that RVCE Bangalore would be a bit better over Nirma University as it is having better placement records, more experienced faculty. However, Nirma University has a more affordable course fee. So, choose according to your convenience.

The dilemma of choosing an engineering branch is one of the most common situations for students who just cleared their 12th boards. Now coming to the question, there are two pieces of advice to be followed in this case.

1. Firstly, it’s high time to sort out your preferences. You need to take time and decide where you are inclined towards. As both of them are totally opposites of each other, it is very crucial to follow your interest as you will be dedicating 4 years of your life. Most importantly, it will decide your career too.
2. Secondly, if you are okay with any of these and the only thing that matters to you is the college name, then go for BITS Goa. There you can also enquire and opt for the dual degree option. Despite one extra year, it will prove worth it. Also, in other parameters like brand name, faculty, etc, BITS Goa outshines RV College any day.

Overall, it's best recommended to follow your interest first as these will be career deciding years of your life, and you don’t wanna regret it later. After all, your hard work and passion are what determines your success.
