It is currently too early to provide a definitive answer regarding the outcome of your question. However, there are cases where students were in a similar situation as you and become anxious as well as desperate to want a seat. It is advised to have patience and go with the flow.

There was a case where a student had a waitlist number of 2XX, and no one was convinced that it is possible to convert at that number. However, due to various factors such as the uncertainty caused by Covid, online classes, and other factors, the waitlists may go even further than in previous years. He received an admission offer to IIM Sambalpur, which was something he had been waiting for.

There may be many factors that come into play such as external and internal factors that may influence the process, such as batch strength. It is important to keep an open mind and have patience as the outcome may be different from what you expect.

MBA IT & Analytics, Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur (2020)

IIM Sambalpur is a new IIM and obviously lacks the credibility enjoyed by older IIMs. But it is not a very bad choice if you are just looking for a degree to add to your resume. Moreover, the IIM tag is bound to be helpful on one or the other day. In case you have limited options then forgoing IIM Sambalpur’s offer is not right. After all, it is an IIM and is still preferred over other B Schools by many corporations. The basic placement statistics below might help you get a deeper insight into the same

Highest CTC: INR 30 LPA

Average CTC: INR 12.64 LPA

Median CTC: INR 11.42 LPA

IIM Sambalpur will definitely not offer opportunities as good as other old IIMs but the IIM tag is tempting enough to grab the offer.

Is Sambalpur the right place to set up the IIM in Odisha?

RT

The Government's decision to establish institutions such as IITs and IIMs is driven by several factors, including the need to provide more opportunities for the country's large and talented population. In addition to this, these institutions also play a significant role in the economic development of the country. For example, the establishment of IITs, NITs, and IIMs in places such as Kharagpur, Silchar, Kozhikode, and Shillong has led to the development of these areas and the surrounding regions, which is known as decentralization of development.

When the Government decides to set up an institution of national importance, several factors are considered when choosing a location, including proximity to means of communication, proximity to industries, and proximity to other good educational institutions. For example, Sambalpur is well connected to the National Highway and is located in the industrial belt of Orissa, with many companies in and around the area. Additionally, there are already many well-established state institutions such as VSSUT, VSS medical college, and Sambalpur University, which makes the area an ideal location to establish an educational hub.

It is important to note that the absence of an airport does not necessarily impede the ability of an educational hub to attract talent or placement opportunities. As can be seen in the case studies of IIT Kharagpur and NIT Rourkela, these institutions have become high-quality institutions despite the lack of an airport. As long as the quality is maintained and institutions attract talented students, the majority of the work toward creating a successful educational hub is done.

MBA from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (Graduated 2020)

It is completely normal to have an interest in both finance and marketing, as they are both important and widely applicable areas of business. To explore your interest in finance, there are many short, introductory courses available on platforms like Udemy that can be completed at a relatively low cost, such as for no more than INR 500. Additionally, you can read basic finance books from any commerce background to gain a solid foundation in the subject. Similarly, for marketing, there are many courses available on platforms like Udemy, as well as other sites. However, it is worth considering that pursuing an MBA program with a fresh mind and an open outlook for many possibilities may be beneficial for gaining a comprehensive understanding of marketing.

In addition to gaining specialized knowledge in finance and marketing, it is also important to have a good understanding of MS Excel and Powerpoint. These skills are widely used in the business world and will be beneficial for any professional in any vertical or specialization.
