GNLU (Gujarat National Law University) is a popular and prestigious public law institute that is located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It was established under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003. The GNLU campus of Gandhinagar is spread over a spacious 50-acre plot of land with a myriad of trees, flowers, shrubs, butterflies, birds, and other living creatures, including rare and precious species. GNLU’s authorities take great care to conserve the ecology and environment of its campus.

Yes, GNLU Gandhinagar offers a horizontal reservation of 25% of total seats (39 seats) for the candidates of Gujarat domicile. As for the Silvassa Campus, a horizontal reservation of 25% (15 seats) is offered for the candidates of DNH & DD Domicile. 

Candidates must pass the HSC/intermediate examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in the case of SC/ST) to avail this reservation. 

GNLU's 2024 cutoff for UG and PG programs was released after the declaration of the CLAT 2024 result. The GNLU CLAT 2024 cutoff was concluded after the fifth allotment list was released.

Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar is the Director of GNLU (Gujarat National Law University). Sir has 30 years of teaching experience. He has worked in prestigious universities like Hidayatullah National Law University. He is the director of Gujarat Maritime University and the President of Gujarat International Maritime Arbitration Centre.  

He completed his graduation, post-graduation, and doctorate in law from Madras University, Chennai. He practiced at the Madras High Court for seven years. His areas of specialization are- environmental law, human rights law, international law and constitutional law. He has written three books on environmental law, and two on human rights law.

The process to check vacant seats at the GNLU Silvassa Campus is by visiting the university’s website- https://www.gnlus.ac.in/admissions/ 

The university has already closed its admissions for UG and PG courses. However, if there are some vacant seats which did not fill during the counseling process, the administration will notify about the same on the official website.

The unreserved BA LLB (Hons.) seats are: 79 seats at GNLU Gandhinagar, and 31 seats at GNLU Silvassa.

The Centre for Law & Economics (CLE) at GNLU is a Centre of excellence for research and training in the discipline of Law & Economics. The Centre values rigorous work in the discipline, and aims to promote awareness of and research in the field. 

It carries out courses and conferences for scholars, practitioners and students, apart from publications on economic analysis of contemporary legal issues. It aims to produce quality prescriptions for legislators, regulators and government departments, and to provide clear explanations and guidance to businesses and ordinary citizens alike. 

The Centre for Law and Economics at GNLU has always tried to reach out to bright and young minds who have a keen interest in employing economic tools and theories for legal analysis. Some of these efforts can be seen at the CLE’s web page for past events. GNLU offers a Ph.D. degree course in Economics to promote academic skill and research vigor in the fields of Economics and Law.

Here are the aims and objectives of CLE:

• To show how law and economics can contribute to policy making, and thereby, improve the current socio-economic problems.
• To demonstrate the importance of this field in improving the efficiency of laws.
• To undertake research on contemporary problems, and to further analyze policies from an economic point of view.
• To collaborate with universities and institutes from across the world, and to organize/deliver seminars and certificate courses.

The Mission of the GNLU Law and Economics Center is to spread awareness among the general public at large, about this field of study. Doing so can play a crucial role in making the Indian Legal System more efficient. 

The head of the GNLU Sports Committee is Dr. Sugnesh Chudasama. Apart from the head (Convenor), there are two other members in the GNLU Sports Committee. They are- Dr. Niyati Pandey and Mr. Tarun Singh. 

The Sports Committee of GNLU Gandhinagar was established in 2008 with the vision to develop sports culture among the students of the university. The new campus of GNLU brought with it improved infrastructure for sports, and the Sports Committee took this as the perfect launching pad to take sports activities at GNLU to new heights.

Each year, plenty of students graduate from GNLU and get the tag of a lawyer. They all are a part of the alumni association of GNLU Gandhinagar.  At present, GNLU has around 1,400 alumni. All these former students of GNLU are building a successful career for themselves in various streams. 

Darshan Ashwin Trivedi is a well-known alumnus of GNLU. He is an Indian film director and academician, and is best known for his contribution to the Gujarati Cinema. He has worked in some good films like Mrugtrushna, Keri, Lakiro, etc. 

In 2022, four graduates of GNLU cleared the exam for Civil Judge in the Gujarat Lower Judiciary. The names of these graduates are- Aditya Gor, Aakanksha Parashar, Prakhar Gautam and Priya Kumari Kala.
