The present scenario of the Computer Science and Engineering department at Haldia Institute is a bit better in comparison with that of the other departments.
| Categories | CSE at Haldia Institute of Technology |
| Course Fee | 3.95 lakh |
| Highest CTC | 13-18 LPA |
| Average CTC | 6-8 LPA |
| Recruiting Companies | TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Johnson and Johnson, etc. |
Overall, the placement percent for the CS department ranges between 50 to 70 percent. If you get enrolled in the CSE department, the chances of you getting recruited by a reputable company would significantly be better than the other departments.
Both MAKAUT and Haldia Institute of Technology are decent engineering colleges and choosing one between the two is a matter of personal preference. In general placement of HIT is better than M. A. K. U. T. The choice also depends on the branch you are getting. If you are inclined towards CS or IT then MAKAUT is a better option but if you want to opt for a core branch then choose colleges like IEM, Heritage, and Techno India Salt Lake. Haldia should be your last preference.
One of my friends was a student of the Haldia Institute of Technology and as she was from Delhi, she had to opt for the hostel. As much as I remember she had no problem with the hostel facilities but there were a few non-major issues she had.
Therefore, the hostels are quite amazing with all the security you’d as for.
You can get your admission fee back as a refund after giving a proper application to step down from the admission process. Haldia Institute of Technology also follows this.
It’s just a matter of how much time it is going to take. You need to keep documents like the receipt for the first semester, clearance certificate, and ID proof handy with you. These documents can be submitted to the finance or the accounts office of the Institute.
This process can be done online too. Since last year Haldia Institute of Technology has been transferring back the refund for the admission fee through NEFT. The transfer mostly happens on the same day when the refund application is submitted.
It must be noted that the college will deduct an amount of 2000 Rupees as admission processing fees.
Well, according to the information I have received from my friends enrolled in both the institutes, I would say that both of these institutes are not that good.
Ensure that you have the appropriate knowledge from the 10+2 education, before applying for admission at colleges. I hope that these suggestions would help you in creating better prospects for your career.
On the academic front, HIT excels in the field of biotechnology. This department's faculty members are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They also offer a variety of hands-on practicals to help you better understand the subject. If you are seriously interested in studying Biotechnology, HIT is one of the best places to get it.
There will be few opportunities for placement in your core sector. 1-2 companies from the core sector, such as ITC/Parle, come to campus to recruit. There have been cases where students have landed internships in well-known companies before finishing their courses. So, basically, it all depends on you; if you have good grades, your chances of getting a job out of college are very good. If not, the IT sector is always an option.
All three colleges, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Techno India Salt Lake Sector V, and Haldia Institute of Technology are very popular colleges to pursue ECE. After careful consideration, I would say that Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE) is the best among the others mentioned.
| Categories | ECE at DSCE |
| Placement Percentage | 12 lakh |
| Highest CTC | 10-12 LPA |
| Average CTC | 6 LPA |
| Recruiting Companies | Wipro, TCS, Aditya Birla, Capgemini, etc. |
Hence, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering is a better college than Techno India and HIT as it offers better placements and facilities to the students. Also, as the college is in Bangalore and staying there could be expensive. The living expenses and travel costs are extremely higher than usual. So prepare accordingly.
You should go for IT at Techno India, Salt Lake as it is better than Haldia Institute in all factors. Being located in an IT hub gives it a huge advantage in terms of exposure and opportunities.
The faculty members are average and highly qualified. Most importantly, the placement record at Techno India is great than Haldia. Staying in Kolkata will help you in taking coaching or internship opportunities. The academic structure for the IT branch is better here.
However, the infrastructure is much better at Haldia than Techno India. But it is still suggested to choose Techno India Salt Lake for IT. You can change your stream after 1st semester if you want to study CSE.
Instead of trying to change your branch through donation, you should rather earn that place for yourself through your marks. If you have maintained a CGPA of 8.5 and above in your 1st and 2nd semester then you would be easily able to change your branch in the 3rd semester. This CGPA is a minimum criterion for switching branches.
If you are willing to change your branch to Mechanical Engineering or Civil then you would definitely have to step up your score game as there are plenty of students with a CGPA of around 8.5. One with the highest marks is generally given more preference in changing their branch at Haldia Institute of Technology.
The rankings depend on the recently produced cut off by the institute, so as to process admission. By the rank you have secured, it is quite apparent that you can get an admission seat for the Biotechnology branch.
Here is a breakdown of the cut-off (opening and closing) recently produced by the institute.
| Courses | General - Outside Home State | General - Home State |
| B.Tech in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering | 4427 | 5107 |

However, at times, it can take you until the last round to get shortlisted. In any case, it is generally difficult for a general student to acquire admission at Heritage Institute of Technology with a rank of 20,000. But, it is best that you still research more about the latest cut-off trends.
