How do the placements really compare between NIT Trichy B.Tech Chemical Engineering and Jadavpur University BE (Power Engineering)?

I
IllusiveMoose Posted On : April 17th, 2026

Chemical engineering is one of the top departments for core engineering at Jadavpur University. It often outperforms many NITs and some IITs.

The placement scenario is impressive, with pay packages and career prospects well above average. Companies that participate in placements include:

  • Cairn India
  • Berger Paints
  • Fluor Daniel
  • UOP Honeywell
  • Haldia Petrochemical
  • Axens
  • ITC
  • BPCL

The placement packages range from 6 LPA to 17 LPA for core companies. Additionally, companies like Vedanta Resources (8-9 LPA), Reliance Chemical Industries (6 LPA), ZS Associates (8-10 LPA), Thermax (7 LPA), HPL (6 LPA), and Hindustan Unilever (8 LPA) also recruit. There are other companies as well. Mass recruiting companies (MRCs) typically offer packages of 3.2-3.5 LPA and hire a significant number of students.

Overall, more than 50-55% of students secure core jobs, while the rest find opportunities in other sectors. The placement scenario for the chemical engineering department at Jadavpur University is quite satisfying.

So, if you’re not getting into the older IITs, choosing Jadavpur University for chemical engineering is definitely a solid option. All the best!

VeiledTyrant Posted On : April 17th, 2026

NIT Trichy for Civil Engineering and NIT Surathkal for Electronics & Communication both have their strengths, but when it comes to fees and ROI, NIT Trichy might be the smarter financial choice. NIT Trichy's placement stats show a 100% placement rate with an average package of 27.27 LPA, while NIT Surathkal has around 79.8% placement for Civil Engineering, which is decent but not as strong. The hostel and overall fees at NIT Trichy are also lower, and they offer several scholarships based on family income, making it more accessible. So, if you're looking for better placement opportunities and value for your money, NIT Trichy could be the way to go, especially if you're interested in Civil Engineering. However, if you’re passionate about ECE and can leverage internships well, NIT Surathkal is still a solid choice.

Should I go for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering in NIT Trichy or B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering in MNNIT Allahabad?

B
BinaryBountyHunter Posted On : April 17th, 2026

NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is a strong choice if you're looking for high ROI, especially with top companies like Google and Microsoft recruiting there, and a solid placement record where 90%+ of students get placed. The total expense of around 5.5 lakh over four years is reasonable given the opportunities post-graduation. On the other hand, MNNIT Allahabad's B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering also has a decent curriculum and placement prospects, but it may not match the prestige and networking potential of NIT Trichy. If you value strong industry connections and a vibrant campus life, NIT Trichy is the smarter financial choice, while MNNIT might be better if you're specifically interested in electronics and want a slightly different environment.

Which one should I opt for NIT Trichy B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Jadavpur University Information Technology

I
IOExceptionIdiot Posted On : April 17th, 2026

NIT Trichy's B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering has a strong reputation for placements, with many tech giants and FANG companies regularly recruiting from campus, which can lead to lucrative job offers. The college also offers various scholarships and internships that enhance career prospects. On the other hand, Jadavpur University's Information Technology program is also well-regarded, but its placement statistics tend to be slightly less impressive compared to NIT Trichy, mainly due to fewer companies visiting the campus for recruitment. If you're looking for better job prospects and a dynamic campus life, NIT Trichy would be the better choice, while Jadavpur could be a good fit if you have a strong interest in IT and want a different academic environment.

Which one should I opt for NIT Trichy B.Tech Civil Engineering or NIT Surathkal B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering

G
GlassGuru Posted On : April 17th, 2026

The quality of professors here is very good. Their teaching methodology and behavior are commendable. Plus, there's renovation happening in the civil department, which is a positive sign.

However, when it comes to placements, civil engineering generally has lower placement rates everywhere. It often requires experience, higher degrees, and good contacts with contractors.

For placement factors, NIT Trichy is a solid choice since it is one of the best NITs. But if you consider all factors like beaches, professors, fests, and the department, NITK Civil could be a better option!

Is choosing NIT Trichy BE/B.Tech over IIIT Hyderabad BE/B.Tech a good decision? Is BE/B.Tech in NIT Trichy worth the fees

Y
YearningYaffil Posted On : April 17th, 2026

NIT Trichy offers a solid ROI with a fee structure around 2 lakhs per year, which is competitive given the average 90% placement rate and top companies like Google and Microsoft recruiting from there. In contrast, IIIT Hyderabad, while known for its strong tech curriculum and high-quality placements, typically has higher fees and a more niche focus, which may not provide the same breadth of opportunities across various industries. Scholarships at NIT Trichy further ease financial burdens, making it a better choice for those seeking value for money.

If you want a well-rounded education with good placement opportunities and manageable costs, NIT Trichy is the smarter financial choice. However, if you're particularly interested in a specialized tech career and can handle the higher fees, then IIIT Hyderabad might be worth considering.

How do the placements really compare between NIT Trichy B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering and IIT Hyderabad B.Tech Biotechnology and Bioinformatics?

G
GildedGargoyle Posted On : April 17th, 2026

NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers a solid ROI with a fee structure around Rs.60,000 per semester and various scholarships that can cover the entire cost for economically weaker students. The on-campus internships and tech giant placements further enhance its value. In contrast, IIT Hyderabad's B.Tech in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, while prestigious, comes with higher expectations and potentially higher fees, but might not guarantee the same level of placement opportunities as seen in core engineering fields. If you're looking for a financially smart choice with practical applications and internships, NIT Trichy is the way to go, while IIT Hyderabad might suit those aiming for a specialized field with a passion for biotech.

I got selection for BE/B.Tech in NIT Trichy but the fees is fairly high. I will have to take an education loan for it. Is it worth the entire effort and money?

E
ElectricEdelweiss Posted On : April 17th, 2026

Yes, you can get a full tuition fee waiver in ALL NITs!

However, only some IIITs offer a full tuition waiver (like IIIT Allahabad, etc.). There are also some IIITs where there is no fee waiver for SC/ST students (like IIIT Sonepat, etc.).

So, I suggest that while selecting the college or filling out your choices, make sure to check:

  • The campus status (permanent or temporary, as some IIITs and NITs are mentored by other NITs).
  • The fee structure of that college

Is doing B.Tech Civil Engineering from NIT Trichy any good

S
SilentSavior Posted On : April 17th, 2026

NIT Trichy is undoubtedly one of the top colleges in India! If you have no specific branch preference, definitely consider it. The opportunities you’ll get, even with a Civil Engineering degree, will be unmatched. If you’re looking to enter the core Civil sector, connecting with seniors and professors will be beneficial. They can guide you in the best possible way.

However, if your interest lies in CSE, you might want to think twice about joining. NIT Trichy does not allow branch changes. Some students enroll in lower branches and still aim for careers in CSE, but keep in mind that certain companies may only allow students from circuital branches to interview on campus. It’s a good idea to reach out to seniors on LinkedIn and ask them about their experiences.

Wishing you all the best for your future endeavors! :)
