One of my cousins is a part of NERIST Arunachal Pradesh, and here is what she has to say about the institution.

NERIST Arunachal Pradesh has a spectacular background. The institute is directly under the control of the central ministry and has been recently ranked around 150 in India.

Here is a brief highlight of the institute.

Criteria Placement Report (2020-21)
Total No. of Recruiters 260
Total No. of Offers 4700
No. of Students Placed 2910
Average Salary Package INR 6.50 LPA
Highest Salary Package  INR 30 LPA
Top Recruiting Companies Amazon, Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini, Wipro, Infosys, Escorts, Ericsson

If you have secured a position at the branch of your preference at the institute, it is definitely best to enroll.

Will I get a seat at NERIST (2021) as I secured the 7th position in the waiting list of Assam?

From your question, it’s not quite clear which examination you took. NERIST conducts 3 examinations, i.e. NEE1, NEE2, and NEE3. You can appear for NEE1 after HSLC. NEE2 is for after the 12th. NEE3 is for after graduation.

If you have taken NEE1 or NEE2, there are good chances that you will be selected. Most students do their 10+2 and don’t join. For NEE2, students leave their seats, if they receive a better college.

However, for diploma students, it is one of the best colleges available in the Northeast. So, if you are a diploma student then it will be quite difficult to get admission with your rank.

Is joining NERIST a good choice after 10th class as of 2021?

Your enthusiasm is quite impressive, but it is advisable to complete your higher secondary. As it would be helpful in building your skills more efficiently and in rendering a resilient pedestal. Here are some things you should keep in mind beforehand:

  • Opting for any college after the completion of your 10th standard would impair your conceptions.
  • Prepare for your JEE along with your +2 studies for better learning and gaining of knowledge.
  • Without a doubt, NERIST is a great institute but you should not narrow down your focus when you can have a variety of better options to choose from.
  • It is better to acquire intermediate knowledge and then opt for JEE.
  • On acing your JEE, you would be provided with ample opportunities to choose from.
  • If you score well enough then you could get a call from IIT as well.
  • If you lack the basic knowledge of physics, mathematics, etc. then your chances of getting into the best colleges in this league would go downhill.

Majority of the students who enroll in NERIST after class 10 lack the basic knowledge in the above-mentioned subjects in comparison to the ones who have successfully completed their 12th or diploma.

NERIST expels the students who fail to maintain a minimum of 6.5 CGPA in every semester. If you can meet the expense of pursuing your intermediate (12th) and enroll in coaching, then you should go for it. Make a choice while you have the opportunities handed out to you or you might end up regretting your overdue decisions in the future.
