One of my friends from high school used to be a student of IIITDM Kanchipuram and in his opinion, ECE at that institute has a far better system of progressing with the course than the NIT system.
IIITDM Kanchipuram also boasts of having a superior faculty. IT has also been derived from the ECE. Both hardware and software are involved in ECE. So, if you are more inclined towards Physics and Maths, go for ECE.
| Categories | IT at NIT Raipur | ECE at IIITDM Kanchipuram |
| Course Fee | 5.40 lakh | 6.55 lakh |
| Highest CTC | 16 LPA | 20 LPA |
| Average CTC | 8 LPA | 12 LPA |
| Recruiting Companies | Barclays, Adobe, Oracle, HCL, etc. | Wipro, UBM, TCS, Value Service, etc. |
Thus it is suggested that you go for ECE at IIITDM Kanchipuram than IT at NIT Raipur. ECE also has better scope and opportunities than IT. Graduating with ECE you can sit for placements of both core sectors and corporate sectors.
A relative of mine used to be a student of NIT Agartala. If you are talking in terms of the quality of the education, then NIT Durgapur is better than Agartala. NIT Agartala is good, though. You will be able to prepare for your ESE, PSU, GATE examinations here.
Coming to placements, around four to eight companies including PSUs visit NIT Agartala for the purpose of recruiting students who are from Civil Engineering Department. This department in NIT Agartala is not as good and reputed as the one in the former NIT.
After completion of your first year in NIT Agartala, you will get the opportunity to change your branch. This is called the ‘Sliding Process’. To get this opportunity, you will have to obtain a CGPA of 8.5 or higher in the first year which consists of two semesters. Based on such results, you will be able to get a seat in electronics branches like ECE, EIE, EE with ease. The curricula of all the NITs are more or less the same.
Everyone knows how to do well in academics, there is nothing different about NIT Raipur. In order to well in academics, all you need to do is plan effectively. It is a good idea to go through the notes and keep also doing the same with the previous notes.
As for your placements, it really comes down to the skills that you possess. So, try to make the most of the four years.
For excelling in studies, an attendance of 80% would be enough. Careful arrangement of notes is also a very good tactic for getting the best results. Also, prepare thoroughly for the end semesters as the results matter a lot.
NIT Jamshedpur is better. Compared to NIT Raipur, it offers better placements. The highlight of NIT Jamshedpur placements 2022 shows the average CTC to be around INR 14.72 LPA. The placement rate was above 97.2%. Deloitte, Amazon, Tata Power, Nokia, etc. took part in the campus drive.
NIT Jamshedpur has a beautiful campus and offers decent facilities.
The OBC-NCL (Home State, HS) cutoff rank for NIT Raipur's B.Tech in Information Technology (IT) branch is not specifically stated in the most recent public sources.
Though the All India (AI) cutoff for OBC-NCL provides a clear benchmark and is generally comparable to or marginally superior for Home State.
You have a high chance of getting into IT at NIT Raipur if your OBC-NCL rank is less than 10,000, but before applying, always be sure to check the most recent official statistics.

From 7th semester, the placement starts. Till now around 30-40 snrs have placed. All the good snrs I know and have already been placed. Companies like- Caterpillar, Schneider Electric, JSL, JSPL, JWL, netarwala, Amazon, Dassault System, Reliance, phonepe, Deloitte, come to our college.
Some faculty are very approachable, while some are not, the faculty to student ratio thing is alright. All my doubts are taken and discussed seriously and given ample time for discussion. My favourite faculty is RSK sir, he is dynamics teacher, the subject is hard but he is very patient. I would say, there are no particular faculty I dislike. Only 2 exams- midsems and endsems. As for how many student pass or fail, it depends upon teacher, if teacher strict then he would fail. But mostly if you try you minimum, then you can pass easily
Campus and club activities you can easily get involved with and provide ample opportunity for one to have personal growth. I am involved with Motosports club and we participate in 2 national competition- eBaja and Formula Bharat, the college provide funds and place for us to build and tools for building.
In terms of hostel facility, in room we have bed, electricity and table and chair. We all student reside in triple sharing. The meal is very bad, the only silver point is the milk that we recieve, only 3 days a week. Registration process is according to college administration only and you just need to fill the form and submit it.
