Which is better: NIT Goa ECE or NITK EEE?
Among these two courses and colleges, you should probably choose EEE at NITK. Having to know some people studying in both these institutes, I can say that the infrastructure and facilities provided at NIT Goa are very poor, it is also below NITK in terms of rankings.
- The campus of NITK is very beautiful with lush green surroundings. NIT Goa is much smaller and might be built inside a state government-run college. Students can enjoy leisure time along with their studies.
- The faculty is very talented and highly experienced.
- The course curriculum is updated according to the recent industry trends.

The best order of preference for core branches in the aforementioned institutes would be
IIT Hyderabad>NIT Trichy>NIT Warangal=NIT Surathkal. Here are a few points justifying my order of preference.
- IIT Hyderabad has the best faculty and peer pool among other institutes as it admits top JEE rank fees for its core branches. The infrastructure is also great because it is a new IIT decked with modernized facilities. In addition to the core courses, there is a popular and industry-relevant course at IIT Hyderabad called Engineering Sciences. It’s an excellent course to explore and identify your interests.
- NITs are also known for their excellent faculty, infrastructure, and high demand among Indian students, but are considered inferior to IITs. It’s the structured curriculum that raises the academic standards of top NITs. The top NITs have produced great engineers in the past and have a strong alumni base.
Ultimately, go for IIT if you want to pursue a Master's from a foreign university as the NIT tag packs global recognition in comparison to the IIT tag.
Should I pursue IT in NIT Surathkal or CSE in SVNIT Surat??
The CSE faculty of SVNIT might be a little better, but apart from that, NIT Surathkal is superior in every aspect.

NIT Allahabad houses one of the country's biggest and brightest CSE departments. Here you're getting a good, competitive, and coding-oriented environment. Seniors are very supportive and the course is good. But the location is quite remote so if you belong to a metro city, you will be disappointed with the city life.

Which has better hostel facilities, NIT Surathkal or NIT Warangal?
One of my relatives has resided in NIT Warangal hostels. Based on his experience, I can give the following information:
- NIT Warangal has Asia's biggest hostel and it is given to B.Tech, M.Tech, and BCA freshers. There are both single and double rooms.
- On the ground floor, there is a snacks corner, Amul shop, and coffee and tea shops as well. This is a hangout place for all the students.
- There is another big hostel which is given to 3rd and 4th-year students with single and double rooms.
- For girls, the hostels are not as good as the boys’ hostels.
- In the first year, you will be accommodated with 4 people in one room due to space issues.
- You will also be restricted from moving out of the hostel at any time during 1st year.
- For the second-year students, an old hostel is provided where the washrooms desperately need renovation and the rooms are not in good condition.
- For 3rd and 4th year, you might get good rooms which will be spacious and comfortable. Although new hostels are being developed, the facilities might change in the coming years.
When talking about NIT Surathkal, the hostel facilities are fine. In the 1st and the 2nd year, you will have sharing rooms. From the 3rd year onwards you will get single accommodations. Internet connectivity in the hostels is not very good. The girls are provided washing machines. There is a night canteen on the hostel premises. For boys, there are no in and out timings.
I have a choice between IT (information technology) in NIT, Surathkal and CS (computer science) in NIT Goa. Which one would be a better choice in terms of placements, brand name, etc.?
NIT Surathkal IT is the better choice. It is among the best NIT in the country and offers great academics, placements, and facilities to students. There is not much difference between the course curriculum of CSE and IT. Almost all companies open for CSE at NIT K are also open for IT students. According to the highlights of NIT Surathkal placements, students of IT get an average CTC of around INR 10 LPA. The placement rate for the branch is around 95-100%.
Which one is better, NIT Surathkal for mining or NIT Jamshedpur for mechanical engineering?
Interacting with your seniors and people working in the core sector will convince you that Mechanical Engineering at NIT JSR is a far superior option to mining.
Mechanical Engineering at NIT JSR will provide you with numerous opportunities and will help you advance your career. Furthermore, mining is not a female-friendly field, and the working conditions are deplorable.
So, without hesitation, you should pursue Mechanical at NIT JSR because the opportunities are vast and the placements are excellent.
Which should be preferred, CS at VNIT or EEE at NIT Surathkal?
You are comparing two different branches; Computer (CSE) and Electrical (EEE). If you are naturally inclined towards a particular branch, then you should choose it no matter the institute. If you are not sure about the branch then let me share some facts I got to know while researching about the institutes.
- NIRF Engineering Ranking 2020 – VNIT Nagpur is ranked 27 while NIT Surathkal is ranked 13.
- Academics – In this regard both are equal. Some professors are good and some are really bad.
- Extra-Curricular Activities – NIT Surathkal is way better than VNIT Nagpur. You will always find some activity happening on the campus. VNIT Nagpur does not have any such activities being conducted regularly.
- Campus location – VNIT Nagpur is actually better than NIT Surathkal. Although the Surathkal beach which is right beside the college looks good in photos, the same cannot be said in person. The VNIT Nagpur campus on the other hand is clean and green.
- Workshops – At VNIT Nagpur most of the workshops organized by the clubs are paid while at NIT Surathkal most of them were free and open to all.
