You should definitely go ahead with international financial management. You will find this subject to be extremely helpful not only in your future career but also in your personal prospects. You will gain a lot of economic and financial information from this course, even more so if it is taught by Prof. Tanuj Nandan.
Here are some pros and cons regarding the same:
Pros:
You will also be exposed to the world of stocks and markets and learn to invest better in debt instruments and mutual funds. This class will also enable you to understand and download all financial data completely. You can also think of doing a parallel MOOC in finance if you are interested enough.
Cons:
In case you are looking for other electives, my friends had opted for Indian Social Organization and Human Resource Management. Another one of interest was Software Project Management.
If Professor Tanuj is taking your subject (since elective teachers keep changing) you should definitely opt for this elective. His teaching style is probably the best. You will love his class.
To compare two institutes, you need to consider various factors. A few of such parameters are briefed below.
If we compare MNNIT Allahabad and VNIT Nagpur based on these parameters, MNNIT comes ahead, although marginally.
Here is a brief overview of the CSE program offered by the two institutes.

Other than that, you can also choose a college which is closer to your hometown, if necessary. That way you can save valuable travel time and visit home during holidays.
There are several professors in the ECE department of MNNIT Allahabad who are excellent in their teaching and lectures for students. These teachers help the students not only in the curriculum but in works related to research and provide other institutional facilities too.
One such example of such a professor is Prof. Amit Dhawan. The point below gives a brief overview of Prof. Dhawan’s characteristics.
These are some of the key highlights of Prof. Amit Dhawan’s lectures, which most students in ECE and also students from other departments in MNNIT Allahabad are well aware of.
Both IIIT Allahabad and MNNIT are highly regarded engineering colleges in North India offering premium quality education. Placements-wide, MNNIT CSE is slightly better compared to both NSUT and IIITA. In my opinion, the preference order should be
MNNIT CSE >= IIITA IT > NSUT CS/AI
MNNIT is the first choice because it’s on Eid the top 5 NITs with the most sought-after branch CSE. IIIT Allahabad is also a great choice for CSE because it has a CS-tailored curriculum and ambiance.
Overall I feel if you are certain of joining an IT company, and have an interest in coding and computers go for IIIT Allahabad IT or MNNIT Allahabad. If you are unsure of your branch preference go for NSUT.
MNNIT Allahabad has a good ranking for its B.Tech courses with India Today ranking it at 14 among Top Public Colleges in India 2020 and 48 by NIRF for its B.Tech course.
Below is a comparison of ECE and IT courses offered by MNNIT Allahabad.

Admission Criteria:
The admission criteria for both Electronics and Communication Engineering as well as Information Technology is the same. A student needs to have a 75% score in 10+2 with science as the mainstream and should have Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects.
Along with this students are required to take the JEE Main exam which serves as the entrance exam for this college. The usual cut off for MNNIT Allahabad in JEE Main ranges from 22,796 to 21,752.
In 2019, the cut off for JEE Main round of Electronics and Communication Engineering was between the range of 4615-6752 (for other states) and 3600-7128 (for home states). Whereas the cut off for Information Technology was 3133-4986 (for other states) and 4057-5697( for home states).
Campus Placement:
MNNIT Allahabad has a stellar placement record and in 2019 it placed 1,028 students successfully with top recruitment giants such as Airtel, Amazon, American Express, BHEL, Britannia, Dell, Deloitte, Tata, and many more visiting the institute for campus recruitments.
The placement percentage for Electronics and Communication Engineering was 90.63% with the Maximum CTC of INR 25.33 LPA.
Whereas Information Technology had a placement percentage of 95.56% and the Maximum CTC of INR 36 LPA.
Both ECE and IT courses at MNNIT Allahabad do have pro factors like a good placement percentage, high expected salary post-graduation, on-campus housing facilities, etc. But in the end, while selecting between these courses a student needs to primarily consider their own interest and feasibility.
According to me, this question crossed your mind because you got an admission into HBTU Kanpur, and want acceptance from the students of MNNIT Allahabad.
If this is true, I would suggest you go ahead with HBTU Kanpur. It is at par with MNNIT in terms of academics. The placement scenario is brighter at MNNIT, but the packages are almost the same for both the colleges. In terms of exposure, surely MNNIT Allahabad is way ahead. Try to work hard and grab a good placement package from HBTU.
You are at a very crucial stage of your life, make sure to spend your time enhancing your skills, and stop worrying about the college tag.
There isn’t any magical tale behind people like Asim or Vishwas Tripathi. It is simply their dedication and hard work that makes them the best.
Asim devoted all his time and efforts towards programming. This is why he was able to get an offer from Google, and set an example for his juniors at MNNIT Allahabad. Asim hails from Kathmandu, but is of Indian origin. He got into MNNIT through the MEA quota.
Some of Asim’s relatives were already working in IT firms. So he already knew of the requirements of this field. Moreover, he was into coding since high school. So, by the time JEE aspirants finish Conics, Sound and Mechanics to crack their JEE exam, Asim had already gathered a 2-year experience in competitive coding.
But even if he did not have prior experience in competitive coding, or the other advantages I mentioned, he would still have gotten success. This is because he never stopped learning, practicing and challenging himself.
He knows several languages, and in his first year, he made it to the TOP 100 in Codechef rankings. He went on to excel at Codeforces and TopCoder. He frequently participated in Google Code Jam and Facebook Coding Events.
Above everything, it was his passion for coding, and his hunger to keep learning that got him to this place. He didn’t just learn, but also shared his knowledge with others around him.
Asim’s story is an inspiration to programmers not just at MNNIT Allahabad, but across the globe. Most of us clear our JEE Mains, get into prestigious colleges, and take it as an end to our struggles. But Asim’s story teaches us how important it is to never let small successes get to our head.
Both IIT Guwahati for Biotech and MNNIT Allahabad for IT are extremely different courses in terms of the scope they offer.
Go for Biotechnology only if you are genuinely interested in it because core placements are miserable and there is a dearth of job opportunities. Most students get placed in Analytics and other non-core sectors and only a few manage to secure a core job. So go for this only if you want to pursue higher studies.
MNNIT Allahabad’s IT program offers excellent job opportunities but lacks in terms of research and exposure. The coding culture is very good here but the academics is poor. The placement scenario is great second only to CS placements. If you aren’t sure enough consider the following points before making the final choice
Concludingly, if you have a specific preference for research and higher education, go for IIT Guwahati else MNNIT Allahabad is the best option for you.
Here are some suggestions on these two options-
Biotech is a good branch with increasing scope. The Biotech Department of NIT Allahabad offers good facilities to its students. The college also organizes an annual Biotech fest by the name of “Biosangam”.
IT is a very safe option these days. It offers good career opportunities. To do well in this field, one has to stay updated on tech developments and work on one’s coding skills. This field requires self-training the most. I am not aware of the IT department at IIEST Shibpur. IT students at IIEST would know the best about the placement prospects.
Both these options are good. The choice depends on one’s interest area.
The situation is probably not that great. From my friend’s experience, data structures and algorithms could be taught in a much-improved manner. This does not pertain only to theory, but practical too.
You will definitely have to study a lot on your own.
