My sister is an alumnus of the IET Lucknow IT branch and here is some of her advice regarding the branch.
Now let’s talk about the IT branch at IET Lucknow.
So, unless you have some senior help, the development of your talents is entirely dependent on your own hard work.
Since my friend is an alumnus of IIIT Allahabad, she will be well suited to talk about the faculty of the institute.
All the teaching staff of IIIT Allahabad is Ph.D. holders from institutes that are reputed, for example, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, etc. Some of them have received their Ph.D. from institutes like the University of Reading, UK. So it goes without saying that the faculty members have expertise in their respective areas of teaching.
The teaching style of the faculty is the same as that of other institutes like the IITs and/or IISc. They teach during the class. If you have doubts, you can ask the faculty and they will be very happy to resolve the same. They are very supportive.
Don’t make faculty a major deciding factor for choosing an institute. Both IIIT Allahabad and MNNIT are reputed institutes in the field of IT.
CUSAT IT has better placement record than Mechanical Engineering. Major software companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Oracle, Cognizant, Tata Project, etc. visit the campus placement each year. According to the highlights of CUSAT placements, students receive an average CTC of around INR 4.3 LPA. While the highest CTC offered is around INR 40 LPA.
One of my acquaintances who has graduated from VNIT has asked me to choose my institute by keeping the following points in mind.
IT has a lot of scopes. Later down the road, if you want to continue with your higher studies, you will be capable of switching to almost any department pertaining to computers. IT from NIT Raipur is an excellent choice.
The scope in the metallurgy sector is limited nowadays. It is obviously your call, though. There is vast scope in IT like research, job, etc.
I have a friend at IIEST Shibpur and here is his insight on the IT placements at the institute.
The placement statistics at IT in IIEST are excellent. The esteemed companies that are recruiters for IT include PwC, Veritas, HSBC, Microsoft, Adobe, TCS, CTS, Wipro, Infosys, etc. You will be offered internships in your 3rd year. The major recruiters in IIEST are IT companies. Therefore, from the IT department, the majority of students are able to receive placements except for a few.
Here is the highlight of recent placement statistics at the institutes.

Hope this gives you some idea about placements for IT at IIEST and Electrical at NIT Durgapur.
You should go with IIITs in any case as they are the better choice. You will be studying with some of the top students in the country who have managed to secure a rank under 35000. You will be exposed to a great study atmosphere and competition.
You cannot get this sort of exposure in local private colleges (with some exceptions) where several students get admission through management quota. Most of them are also from rich and well-to-do families who are just looking to secure a degree.
To be honest, you cannot compare an institute of national importance with a state-level private college. You should not underestimate the academics of colleges due to the absence of a permanent campus or infrastructure.
A lot of the students from these colleges have a really good caliber and the potential to gain international recognition without the support of the college administration.
Sharda University is a fair option if you want to pursue your B.Tech in IT. Almost all the colleges have the same curriculum and course, the difference lies in the type of placements and opportunities offered by the University. The Engineering department of Sharda University is not at all in comparison with those of IITs, yet, it is not that bad.
Rankings:
The University is ranked at #151 out of 200 Top Private Colleges in India 2020 by NIRF.
It has also been rated #26 out of 50 Top Universities in India, 2020 by ARIIA.
Fee Structure:
The average fee per year for B.Tech in IT at Sharda University falls somewhere near Rs. 1,59,000/- per year.
The Hostel Fee is Rs. 1,36,000 per year for boys and Rs. 1,55,000/- per year for girls.
Campus Life:
Campus Life of Sharda University is one of the driving factors that lures students to the college. It has a very social life.
There are various eating joints present at the campus. Various sports and extracurricular activities are performed as well.
Every department has its own set of a library with the most important books present there.
Placements:
Students are allowed to sit for placements post their seventh semester.
Given that Sharda is a private university, it doesn’t disappoint in terms of placement opportunities. Rather, various top tier firms like Byju’s, Amazon, Audi, L&T, etc visited the campus this year.
91% of the students receive B.Tech placement offers.
The highest package offered to the students was 10 lakh per annum whereas the average package was 3 lakhs per annum.
The placement rate for Sharda University is 60%.
Therefore, these were enough reasons to state that Sharda University is a good choice for B.Tech in IT and the type of personality development offered by it, is sometimes not even offered by the top IITs or NITs.
Sharda University is top-ranked UGC approved University for providing Best Quality Education in greater Noida. It offers a full-time four-year BTech program in information technology. Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology (NIET) Greater Noida, is one of the popular technical colleges. The institute ranked in 1st position in Greater Noida and at 6th position in North India for its Engineering faculty.
NIET has been accredited with grade "A" by NAAC while Sharda University has a "B" grade for the same. Both universities offer programs in Business, Engineering, IT, and software. Specifically for information technology, let us have a look at the difference between programs offered by both the colleges:

In terms of college, IEM and HIT both provide similar career opportunities in the IT sector. Major recruiters like TCS, Infosys, CTS, Capgemini from the IT sector visit both the institutes.
If you had to pick between the two engineering fields, you should always go with CS. If you select CS, you will be able to apply for a variety of government/public sector positions (ISRO, BARC, IOCL) after completing your B.tech. Only CS guys are qualified to apply for the majority of these government jobs.
| Parameters | IEM | Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata |
| Tuition fees (B.Tech) | 5.88 lakhs | 3.93 lakhs |
| Average CTC | INR 5-6 LPA | INR 3.75 LPA |
| Highest CTC | 72 LPA | 16 LPA |
As you will get similar opportunities you can choose either. Also, outside of WB, no one cares if you're from IEM or HIT. Unless you're from JU, everything is the same.
You should choose NIT Raipur IT. It has a better brand name and offers good infrastructure and facilities. Having the NIT tag will help you a lot for placements and internships.
According to NIT Raipur placements, students of IT get an average CTC of around INR 15 LPA. While the highest CTC offered is around INR 60 LPA.
