XLRI Jamshedpur and SP Jain Mumbai are both renowned management colleges in India, with XLRI having an edge due to its older establishment.

If you enjoy managing people and prioritize teamwork, a career in HRM may suit you well. It's worth noting that HRM has evolved to be much more than just headhunting.

Before making a final decision, it's important to consider the type of organization you would like to work with, if that's your goal post-MBA. This can help you make a more informed and beneficial decision.

It depends on your business school needs. You listed three prestigious schools. This may help you choose:

  • SP Jain is famous in India and globally for its global business and entrepreneurship concentration.
  • The oldest and most famous Indian business school, IIM Lucknow, is known for its academic rigor and research.
  • XLRI Jamshedpur emphasizes management and social responsibility.

Academically, with facilities, and placement, XLRI is better. It is the best in India for HR and BM, with 100% placement every year.

I cleared XLRI hr cutoff and have 94.242 percentile. What are the further steps and my chances of conversion?

SC

Last year my brother tried for conversion, so I think sharing his experience might give you a clear idea.

  • You must prepare well for general questions such as why MBA, why HR, your strengths and weaknesses.
  • GD-PI rounds at XLRI would send a set of questions to the shortlisted candidates. These must be answered carefully because the interview may be based solely on these questions.
  • Also, if you answer them correctly, you have a good chance of presenting yourself to the interviewer in a favorable light.
  • The GD process would be based on very conventional topics.
  • If you have 2+ years of experience, your interview will be based on it.
  • Prepare thoroughly, not only for the technical aspects of your job but also for the functional aspects.
  • Prepare 2–3 of your favorite or most important engineering subjects if you are an engineer (the same goes for other disciplines as well).
  • Keep up with current events and, most importantly, prepare your views on them.

Once the interview shortlists is released, the shortlisted candidates usually form a WhatsApp group to prepare for the GD-PI. Find similar groups on the education network and join them if you get a call.

The Chances of Conversion are possible if you get a call. A good XAT score certainly helps, but before, people have simply cleared the XAT cut-off and made it to the institute. Now you have to stand out among others.

Is there any other campus of XLRI, than the Jamshedpur one?

GS
Gaurav Sharma Posted On : April 20th, 2023
studied at Xavier School of Management

Currently, XLRI has two campuses, one in Jamshedpur and the second in Jhajjar. XLRI's campuses are on expansive parcels of land and have all the necessary amenities and infrastructure.

The Xavier School of Management (Delhi campus) is the expansion of the premier institute based in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Located in Jhajjar District at Aurangpur (25 km from Gurugram), the XLRI Delhi-NCR campus was kick-started in 2017. Currently, the institute only offers admissions in Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). However, they intend to expand their roster to include the infamous corporate and certificate programs soon. The admission is based on the entrance exam and the application is available online.

XLRI Delhi successfully concluded its 2022 placement drive with 100% placements. Students received an average salary of INR 27.58 LPA & the median salary stood at INR 25.25 LPA. The highest domestic package offered was INR 49 LPA. Most of the offers came from Sales & Marketing, ITES, E-commerce, Gaming & Online Service sectors.

XLRI Jamshedpur offers PGDM - BM and PGDM - HRM as its Flagship Programs. Admission to the program is based on XAT scores followed by a Personal Interview and/or Group Discussions. XLRI concluded its Placements for batch 2023 and recorded the Highest CTC at INR 1.1 CPA and Average CTC at INR 32.7 LPA.

How many Non engineers get into XLRI?

HT
Himanshu Thakran Posted On : June 8th, 2021
PGDM-BM from Xavier School of Management (2017)

The admissions team wants to admit a diverse set of students. There is no preferential treatment to engineers. Don't assume that admissions decisions are made in a fixed percentage or quota. Each application is looked at individually.

But I can tell you what profile of graduates has gotten into HRM from the past three years alone. Here's a list of the most popular degree programs of people who got into HRM.

Pharmacy graduates BBA, BBS Chartered accountants
Psychology graduates Medicine, and dental graduates
Graduates from basic science like Physics, Chemistry and Maths Literature and language graduates
Social Sciences graduates Graduates in Communication

Even if you have a different profile that is not mentioned in the above-mentioned list, it does not matter. The fact that these people from so many different backgrounds got into XLRI, states the fact that the program is open to all. So, concentrate on doing well in XAT, and the rest should fall into place.

How is XLRI better than other B-schools (including IIM's)?

SR
Siddhartha Roychowdhury Posted On : May 31st, 2021
MBA Human Resources, Xavier School of Management (2018)

XLRI is way no better than the other B-schools rather they all are the same. All these top B-schools(including IIM’s) are the same in all aspects ranging from the placements to the academics.

You will see students from different B schools comparing their institute with others and figures that they possess unique qualities but there is nothing of that sort. The top ten B-School in the country belong to the same league and you will enjoy more or less similar opportunities at these institutes.

Slight differences can be observed in placement figures, alumni networks - their global spread, and job roles. But that’s it.

So, to answer your question, XLRI is not better than IIMs, it’s not worse than them either. They belong to the same league.

What are the career opportunities for a person with an MBA in Human resource management from XLRI?

AG
Aditi Gerwhal Posted On : June 11th, 2021
Studied at Xavier School of Management

My friends and I studied at XLRI and it is considered one of the top institutes for MBA in India.

You must do the following before taking any decision

  • Read about non-HR and HR employees.
  • Check if your profile matches your strengths.
  • Don't jump into HR naively because it sounds easy.
  • It's best suited to psychology students as it deals with human interactions.
  • An HR job is very demanding and you must put your best at your role

You can get job roles like Talent Acquisition, Human Resource Executive, Salary Incharge, Performance Analyst, Assistant to the HR, etc. Recruiting sectors include Consulting, Digital Media, Educational, Healthcare, Tourism, Insurance, IT, etc.

When it comes to XLRI, very few companies offer a role for HR instead core job roles are more preferred. It has been observed that various HR professionals shift their job to non-HR roles within a couple of years.

How are XLRI, XIMB, and XIME related? Does XLRI plays any role with XIMB or XIME in placements?

S
Sagardeep Posted On : February 13th, 2023
PGDBM in Marketing & Operations Management, Xavier School of Management (Graduated 2016)

The Xavier Institute of Management (XLRI), Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), and Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) are all well-respected colleges that share a common heritage. All three were established by the same Jesuit society and have a strong connection to the Xavier or Loyola name. Another commonality between these colleges is that they all use the XAT exam as a selection criterion for their MBA programs.

Additionally, it is not uncommon for faculty members to move between XLRI, XIME, and XIMB. Despite these similarities, it is important to note that each of these colleges has its own distinct functioning and separate placement processes. It's important to research each of these colleges independently to understand the unique opportunities and resources each of these colleges offers.

Is there any reservation for home state candidates for XLRI and is there any preference for girls in XLRI?

SS
Shahistha Sayyed Posted On : June 14th, 2021
MBA from Xavier School of Management

To get into XLRI, one has to make it to their merit list. You are wrong to believe that one has to secure a sort of special preference just because they are a "home candidate" in particular.

XLRI neither is under any such compulsion nor does it reserve any seats for any candidate like that. As a matter of fact, no institute does that. Just like the boys, the girls who are admitted at XLRI too possess the apt skills and smartness it takes to reach there. Whatever is taught to girls is similar to what is taught to the boys too. Believing in a misconception like that should be corrected right away.

To conclude, all I would like to say is that be it XLRI or any other institute- not even a single one of them in today's time cares about gender preference. If you are smart, you would be welcomed and respected everywhere.
