I am a student of IIT Kanpur. In terms of infrastructure and facilities, IIT Kanpur is way ahead of IIT BHU. It is one of the oldest and topmost IITs. Even though IIT BHU was actually established in 1919 as Banaras Engineering College, it became an IIT in 2012.
Here is a comparison between the Electronics branch of IIT BHU and Chemical branch of IIT Kanpur based on multiple factors:

(The branch-wise data for 2024 placements of IIT BHU is not yet available. On the other hand, the IIT Kanpur 2024 placements are still ongoing, because of which, the figures are comparatively very small).
If you wish to jump into an IT career, Electronics is a better choice as compared to Chemical. However, IIT Kanpur will provide you with much better exposure, and much wider opportunities as compared to IIT BHU. Additionally, you can learn coding even as a student of Chemical Engineering. This way, even if you don’t get as many IT-based job opportunities on campus, you’ll easily get an off campus offer. The IIT Kanpur tag will help you get into top international universities for higher studies and research work.
Based on these factors, I would suggest you choose Chemical Engineering at IIT Kanpur over Electronics at IIT BHU.
According to my knowledge, IIT Kanpur Chemical Engineering will give you a better perspective even in your noncore fields. So if you get a chance in IIT K then just go for it, it's one of the finest IITs in India, and the experience you will get there is incomparable.
Below are the details of IIT Kanpur:
Below are the details of IIM Sirmaur:
Below are the details of IIM Jammu:
You should get your MBA from IIT Kanpur as soon as reasonably practicable. Don't be swayed by the IIM label.
IIT Kanpur is a better choice if you want to opt for theoretical physics (especially quantum mechanics) than IISC Bangalore.
Choosing between IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras can be a daunting task, but there are a few things to keep in mind while making this decision.
You must keep in mind that both institutes are highly respected and highly regarded that offer excellent academic programs, faculty, and research opportunities.
IIT Kanpur is well known for its cutting-edge research facilities in India. It has many unique aspects like the unique wind tunnel facilities for Aeronautical Engineering to supercomputers for CSE. It also has a rich research culture and contributes to Industrial trends.
Most of the professors here are involved in research and thus there are excellent research opportunities in every field at IIT Kanpur. Due to this many students willingly pursue research despite the placements being very good. IIT Kanpur gives equal opportunities to students of all fields and lets you explore all your passions.
Infrastructure-wise too, IIT Kanpur is better than most IITs providing the best hostel facilities, and extracurricular and academic facilities.
So now the question arises, despite being excellent in every aspect, why do people prefer IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi over IIT Kanpur? Well to state the most common reason, top rankers want to follow the herd and thus end up either in Delhi or Bombay. Other reasons might be
The location of IIT Kanpur may also affect one’s decision of joining it
The trend of top 100 rankers going to Bombay or Delhi also leaves Kanpur underrated
Bombay and Delhi slightly enjoy better placements than Kanpur
The rankings also consider Kanpur below Delhi and Bombay. In reality, these rankings are subjective but for students, these become the basis on which they make their decision.
To conclude, there is nothing wrong with IIT Kanpur and yes it is indeed underrated because of the trend of top rankers flocking to Bombay or Delhi with no clear reason.

Since the Institute releases no official data on branch wise placements, we have to depend on individual students' reviews. A student claims that In mechanical engineering, the placement percentage is 80% with the highest package standing at INR 2.25 cr and the average CTC at INR 15 lacs.
Top Recruiters: Top recruiting companies are Amazon, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, Quadeye, etc. About 50% of students got internships in companies such as Amazon, Flipkart, Quadeye, Samsung, Quant Box, etc.
Top roles: The top roles offered to mechanical engineering students are Machine design, Manufacturing process, Vibrations, Thermodynamics, etc.
One of my close friends is a third-year undergraduate student in the Department of chemical engineering at IIT Kanpur. After considering all the other choices that his rank allows he finally chose Chemical Engineering.
A majority of IITians take non-core jobs because of their easy availability and much better packages. If you are one of them, then definitely go for Chemical instead of Mechanical. This is because Chemical Engineering has a lesser workload and rigor in comparison to Mechanical, which gives you a lot of time to prepare for non-core jobs. However, it’s important to note that this is applicable only if you are targeting non-core jobs in finance or coding.
But if you are planning to go for Civil Services preferably IES, it’s better to opt for mechanical because you cannot prepare for IES along with chemical engineering.
For core jobs, going for an old IIT like IIT Kanpur is the safest and best you can make Hyderabad doesn't even stand a chance in that case.
Both IIT BHU and IIT Kanpur are one of the best and oldest institutes in India. But according to me IIT Kanpur is better than IIT BHU here are some reasons:
Considering the above points I could say go for IIT Kanpur over IIT BHU. Although, it depends on personal choice.
Usually, the average salary of an Aerospace Engineer is in the bracket of INR 35, 000-INR 40,000 per month. To date, the highest APJ bar offered to any Aerospace Engineer that completed his graduation from IITs is INR 15 LPA.
The package offered to Aerospace Engineers depends on a number of factors and varies from person to person
In IIT Kanpur, the students of the Aerospace Engineering branch usually secure an average package of 9-12 LPA meanwhile the highest around 15 LPA.
