MBA from Indian Institute of Management Raipur (Graduated 2019)

IIM Bangalore has many, not one USPs. Here are some that caught my attention the most.

Location: Unlike other IIMs located on the outskirts of cities, IIM Bangalore enjoys situated at the heart of the city. Students need not travel far for shopping or other fun activities.

Sports center: IIM Bangalore is heaven for sports freaks. Its vast infrastructure comprises a sports center where badminton, squash, pool, table tennis, cricket, volleyball, and basketball are played.

Swimming pool: IIM Bangalore is the first and only IIM to have swimming pool facilities.

Surreal campus: IIM Bangalore has a lush green campus with paved roads around ideal for late-night walks. The temperature here is moderate due to the excess greenery.

NSRCEL: This is the most eye-catching feature of IIM Bangalore. NSRCEL is an entrepreneurship cell that promotes the startup ideas of aspiring entrepreneurs. It even holds Launchpad programs that give vast knowledge about the startup world. NSRCEL has incubated many well-known startups.

All these amazing features are the USPS of IIM Bangalore.

Is it better to be a topper in the new IIMs (Tricky, Ranchi, Rohtak, Udaipur, Raipur, Kashipur) than being an average student at IIM A,B, or C??

One cannot really compare the enriched experience and worth of old IIMs to the newer ones. No matter how high grades you score in the older IIMs, they can never be at par even with the average marks of an old IIM student. Their skills, knowledge, and confidence are at another level. Older IIMs help you achieve bigger goals and earn much more. So it’s better if you are an average student at an old IIM than a topper at a new IIM.

What is the difference between IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore, considering the brand value, placements, packages, etc.?

SA
Shweta Arora Posted On : December 13th, 2022
Director at ReGraduate | MBA, FMS Delhi

I have drawn a clear comparison between IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore based on the following parameters:

  • Campus size: IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore both has a campus of 100 Acres.

  • Hostel: IIM Ahmedabad has 25 student dormitories with a total capacity to hold about 740 occupants. IIM Bangalore also offers single-room occupancy to its students.

  • Internet facility: Both the hostels have a 24/7 internet connection.

  • Crowd Diversity: IIM Bangalore is slightly at an advantage here because IIM Ahmedabad lays more emphasis on the engineering background of students.

  • Learning experience: IIM Ahmedabad is more academically oriented whereas IIM Bangalore focuses on the overall development of its students.

  • Rigour: The faculty strength, academic mix, and more balanced approach to extra-curricular activities make IIM Ahmedabad a better one in this regard.

  • Fees: IIMA- INR 23 LPA, IIMB- INR 24.5 LPA.

  • Placements: It will be unjustified to decide which IIM of the two offers better placement opportunities. This is because both offer the best but in their respective specialties. IIMB offers more placement in IT functions and IT/E-commerce industry whereas IIMA offers better consulting and financial services.

Based on the above factors we can infer that no B-School is better than the other. It all depends on how well you make use of the resources and achieve your goals. Both the IIMs will definitely give you a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

How tough is IIM B test for getting into fellowship program at IIM Bangalore?

SM
Siddant Mittal Posted On : May 15th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore

Unlike CAT, RAT (Research Aptitude Test) is not a unified exam. Evert IIM conducts its own admission process for FPM and thus the pattern of RAT varies from IIM to IIM. One of the patterns is termed as minor RAT followed at IIMB and at a few other IIMs. The RAT consists of different types of CAT questions including questions on verbal skills, logical reasoning, quantitative etc. However, the quantity of questions is less and the questions are distributed differently. Questions are designed to determine minimum eligibility requirements and are not meant for elimination thus the overall test is not too difficult.

It's important to note that the RAT pattern for each of the IIMs changes every year. Though some preparation definitely needs to be made for these exams, I would not suggest giving more time to prepare for interviews than the written exam.

What are the chances of getting an interview call from IIM Bangalore with 95 in 10th, 96 in 12th, and 7.79 in UG with 10-months experience?

OK
Om Kashyap Posted On : July 28th, 2021
IIM Bangalore (2018)

Admission to IIM Bangalore highly depends on several factors. Which are as follows.

  • CAT percentile: It is the most important factor of getting admission anywhere.
  • Gender: It indirectly plays an important role in getting a call from any IIMs.
  • Category (General/ OBC/ SC/ ST/ PD):The offer of admission to the candidate depends on availability of seats in each category.
  • Academic background: The final selection list also considers the academic background.
  • WAT and PI: If you are shortlisted, you will have to go through the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview sessions.
  • Work experience: It also plays a major role in selection.

Weightage:

Factor Weightage
CAT score 25%
WAT 10%
PI 30%
Academic background 25%
Work experience 10%

After WAT and PI, a category-wise merit list is made, and admission offers are sent to the shortlisted students.

How can I do MBA at IIM Bangalore?

JJ
Jason Jose Posted On : December 30th, 2022
Studied Master of Business Administration Degrees at Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur (Graduated 2022)

It is simple to gain admission to IIM Bangalore to pursue an MBA. Apply for the common admission test (CAT), get a good percentile based on your previous work experience, and then pass the WAT-GD-PI process. Every year, nearly 2 lakh aspirants take the CAT. The prestigious 2-year MBA program at IIMB accepts only 400-500 students. That means you must outperform 1,99,500 other students or 99.75% of those vying for the coveted seat.

IIMB requires stellar academics in your 10th/12th/UG, meaningful participation in extra-curricular activities (even better if you have won some awards), and a zeal to give your best and survive the rigorous curriculum as you enter a daunting corporate life later.  If you are a General Engineer Male (GEM), you must score at least 99%ile (assuming you scored 85-90% in your 10th/12th/UG) to be considered for an interview. Sometimes the cutoff is as high as 99.5%ile or higher. Because of gender diversity, General Engineer Females (GEF) have a few percentile points advantage. If you come from a non-engineering background, you can still get an interview even if your score is 90-95%. Although your percentile goal should not be based on your UG profile. To get the highest CAT percentile, you must give your all.

For CAT preparation, you must first understand where you stand. Solve any previous year's CAT exam to determine your strengths and weaknesses. Consult a coaching institute to determine whether you require coaching or if you can prepare on your own. The idea is to start with the fundamentals. After that, begin solving mocks. It is also more important to analyze mocks than it is to solve them. Determine your mistakes and try not to repeat them in the future. The trick is to look for incremental improvements in each mock.

When the CAT is finished and you have achieved the required percentile, it is time to start preparing for the WAT-GD-PI. Interviews for the IIMB will be stressful. They will run a rapid-fire round with strange questions, testing your ability to survive the rigorous curriculum while also verifying your credentials and experience.
