As a first year student at MNNIT Allahabad, I have had a fair share of good and bad experiences on campus. 

I am listing down all the major elements of life at MNNIT, and my experience of each-

• Campus- The campus is not very big, and one can easily cover the entire area on foot. Many people use bicycles, but it is not a necessity. Everything is a 10 minute walk away. The campus size is perfect according to me. Also, the campus is covered in greenery.

• Classes- I have heard that the classes become more interesting from second year onwards. But I can tell you that the first year classes are quite boring, and almost everyone attends them for attendance. There isn’t much to learn from those lectures, and one has to rely on self studies during the exams. 

• Fests and Cultural Activities- ‘Culrav’ and ‘Avishkar’ are the two major fests of MNNIT. Our college fests are pretty average. 

• Senior-Junior Interaction- MNNIT is among the very few engineering colleges with zero ragging (both on paper and in practice). The seniors are very helpful, friendly and approachable. There’s a practice of addressing the seniors as Sir or Ma’am, but it isn’t really bothersome.

• Food- The messes and canteens serve strictly vegetarian meals. Thus, non vegetarians have a tough time finding non veg meals inside and around the campus. As far as food quality is concerned, the canteens serve good and affordable meals, and are open till late night. The mess food is below average, and many students prefer canteens over messes. 

Living at MNNIT Allahabad has been a mixed experience. But I hope to learn and grow during the remaining years of my stay at this college.

First of all, congratulations on getting admission at MNNIT Allahabad. As a student of MNNIT, I find myself eligible to answer your query.

There is no point in worrying about ragging. Our college has zero ragging. The seniors of MNNIT are very friendly. All they require is to be addressed as ‘Sir/Ma’am’ by the juniors, and to be treated with respect. The club auditions for ‘Swagat’ (the college freshers’) begin on the first weekend. The selections for various clubs/societies are handled mostly by second and third year B.Techs.

During selections, your seniors might act strict and serious, but this behavior lasts only a few days. Once they get to know you, they will help you in every way possible. The seniors carry experience, so be respectful and polite towards them. They will give you valuable advice related to academics and extracurriculars. MNNIT Allahabad has much stricter rules against ragging, in comparison to other top NITs. 

Make the most of your stay at MNNIT, and don’t be afraid of ragging at all.

NSIT CSE is the better choice than NIT Surathkal IT and MNNIT Allahabad CSE. This is because it's located in the capital city which is a hub of budding startups and companies. Delhi also has excellent coaching institutes for preparation for CAT, coding, and GATE. The institute, therefore, offers better opportunities for development and learning. Additionally, the capital city has many places to explore so you can have a fun off-campus life too.

NIT Surathkal on the other hand is away from the hustle and bustle of the metro city so if you prefer a peaceful college experience then choose NIT Surathkal. 

So, if you want to stay in the capital and experience a dynamic life, choose IIIT Delhi or NSIT else go for NIT Surathkal. 

First and foremost, congratulations on getting MNNIT Allahabad for your B.Tech. 

The three main gates of MNNIT are- The Ganga gate, the Yamuna gate and the Saraswati gate. 

1. Infrastructure- Infrastructure-wise, there’s a lot to improve. The important elements of our college infrastructure are- The Administrative Building, the Main Building, the Multipurpose Hall, the Playgrounds, the Hostels and the Guest House.

1. Sports- The campus has a main playground and a Gymkhana ground (containing the gym on one corner). Other than that, there is a basketball court, one volleyball court, two tennis courts, three table tennis tables and two indoor badminton courts. There’s ample room for sports players to polish their skills.

1. Hostels- There are seven boys’ and two girls’ hostels. The girls’ hostels are located on the other side of the campus, near the Directors’ house. Among the seven boys’ hostels, Mega Hostel is the best one. It is allotted to freshers. Tagore Hostel is located outside the main campus. The other boys’ hostels are- Raman Hostel (for PG students, located near Tagore Hostel), Patel Hostel, Tandon Hostel, Tilak Hostel and Malviya Hostel.

1. Cafeteria- The campus houses one main cafeteria i.e. Bikanervala. There are three canteens in the hostel region, namely, Chechi Restaurant - famous for its samosa, Raj Canteen - famous for its maggi, and Teerath Canteen - popular for its aloo ka paratha.
