There are surely some good alternatives to NICMAR and one of them is RICS School of Built Environment. It was established in 2013, but it has managed to offer very good placements to its students.
Here are some of the Pros and Cons of joining RICS School of Built Environment.
Pros
Cons
The student can talk to the current students and know the facts. Try reaching out to the alumni also either through the internet or personally. They will be able to give you the intricate details about the institution.
There is no such thing as lowest CTC in NICMAR. It's very clear that if you don't perform well during the interview you will not receive any job offers.
Now talking about the salary package, the batch of 2020 received an average package of 6.75 LPA. The placement percentage was recorded to be 99.2%
Coming to the question regarding how much you could expect depends upon various factors like your academic performance, the ongoing market scenarios, and your performance on the day. Additionally, if you have two years of work experience then it will all go well and you can even expect a package above 5 LPA.
The procedure to get into the NICMAR Pune is not at all difficult because you need to pass an entrance and a personal interview.
The entrance is nothing else than the NCAT, which you have to pass with flying colors, and then there will be a personal interview scheduled after the exam.
If you manage to pass the personal interview, you will get admission in NICMAR, or else, work harder for your next attempt. NCAT is not that tough. It's easy if one prepares well.
First of all, the fee structure for both the colleges is different NICMAR’s fees are around 8-10 lakhs for two years while TAPMI takes around 16 lakhs for two years.
Clearly, TAPMI is a better choice as TAPMI provides a great MBA culture for the overall development of a student. Placements wise TAPMI is much better than NICMAR, average placements for TAPMI is around 12 LPA while the average for NICMAR is around 5-6 LPA.
It will be difficult to get a job in Canada or in the US after completing a degree from NICMAR. NICMAR degrees aren’t recognized by WES of Canada and it isn’t listed in most universities there. However, construction companies from Gulf countries and some African countries visit the campus placement.
Whenever any company visits for the placement procedure at NICMAR, a notice is sent to all the students through the mail. It consists of all relevant information including the company name, job profile, eligibility, salary offered, job location, etc. Furthermore, a column is given where you can fill the expected salary package.
Any fresher cracking the interview will be offered a salary package of around 7 to 8 LPA whereas an experienced candidate will be given a salary package of around 9 LPA.
Some organizations also have a set CTC that they offer, and you will get paid that amount regardless of your experience.
The NICMAT common admission test known as NCAT is of 180 marks. It comprises three sections.
It is an objective paper of 1.5 hours. The syllabus is very similar to the level of SSC CGL. There is no writing portion as such
The final section is taken considering the marks in the following.
| NCAT | 180 |
| Personal interview | 50 |
| Rating of application | 70 |
| Total marks | 300 |
There is no technical portion in the examination, however, you may get questions out of it in the interview session. It is important to perform well in the interview session with your communication skill.
I also got into the ACM program at NICMAR Pune. Let's connect and chat about it. You can find me on Facebook under the name Sunand Mahajan. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks!
If you’re confused about whether to choose NICMAR, NITIE, or RICS SBE, I’d say it depends on your specific goals. At NICMAR, the MBA in Project Management has a great placement record with a 97% student placement rate. The faculty are approachable and provide good insights, but the fees are on the higher side. If you're primarily focused on project management, NICMAR is definitely worth considering, but do weigh it against what NITIE and RICS SBE offer as well.
If you've just finished your B.E., now is a great time to start your MTech. In my opinion, pursuing MTech in Construction Technology is a smarter choice than going for a management course at NICMAR. You can always pick up management skills with on-site experience, but getting an MTech later on might leave you with some knowledge gaps. It's better to first deepen your expertise in structural engineering and then move to practical work.
Plus, if you're aiming to be a Project Manager, having a master's degree is often necessary. NICMAR can keep you up-to-date with the latest trends in civil engineering and offers good job prospects. However, with an MTech, you might have to work a bit harder to find those high-paying opportunities.
