The University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has opened applications for Ph.D. Admission 2026 (A Batch). Eligible candidates can apply online till January 22, 2026. Admissions will be conducted as per UGC norms and the University’s Ph.D. rules. USTM is NAAC ‘A’ Grade accredited and ranked in the NIRF 2025 band of 151–200.
Ph.D. admissions are open in multiple disciplines, including: Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science, Business Administration, Commerce, Environmental Science, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science & Electronics, Sociology, Social Work, Rural Development, Library & Information Science, Education, and Allied Medical Sciences.

USTM PhD Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission, candidates must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject with at least 55% marks from a recognized university, though a 5% relaxation is provided for those in the SC, ST, and OBC categories.
The selection process strictly adheres to UGC guidelines, utilizing a weighted evaluation system where the Written Test accounts for 70% of the total score and the Viva-Voce makes up the remaining 30%. Notably, candidates who have already qualified for NET or JRF are exempted from the written examination, but they are still required to appear for the viva-voce to complete their selection.
USTM offers Institutional Fellowships ranging from ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 per month, preferably to NET/JRF-qualified candidates, as per university rules.
