Understanding Freeze, Float, and Withdraw Options

After seat allotment, candidates must choose one of three options. Freeze means accepting the allotted seat and proceeding with admission. Float means accepting the current seat but continuing to compete for a higher-preference choice in the next round. If a better choice is allotted in the next round, the current seat is automatically cancelled.

Withdraw means giving up the allotted seat entirely. Candidates who withdraw and wish to re-enter the next round must pay Rs. 2,000 counselling fee again. Candidates who fail to select any option are treated as having withdrawn.

For online reporting, self-attested documents must be uploaded to the portal. For offline reporting, candidates must physically visit the allotted institute with all original documents within the reporting window.

VMSBUTU has made DigiLocker account creation a prerequisite for JEE Main 2026 candidates registering in the counselling portal. This is a new compliance requirement introduced for the 2026-27 cycle. Candidates must set up their DigiLocker account before starting the registration process to avoid disruption.
