The University Grants Commission has introduced a new refund policy for higher Education Institutions for session 2024-25. Candidates who withdraw before September 30, 2024, will receive a full refund of admission fees.

New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced a new fee refund policy for the academic year 2024-25. This policy mandates higher educational institutions (HEIs) to provide a full refund of fees for cancellations or withdrawals made up to September 30, 2024.
For cancellations between October 1, 2024 and October 31, 2024, HEIs can deduct a maximum of INR 1,000 as a processing fee. The Commission considered the matter in its 580th meeting on May 15, 2024.
It shall apply to all higher education institutions, whether established or incorporated by or under a Central or State Act. Every institution recognised by the University Grants Commission under clause (f) of Section 2 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and to all institutions deemed to be a University declared as such under Section 3 therein and to all higher education institutions affiliated to a University.
Refund Policy by UGC
Beyond these dates, the refund policy is structured as follows:
- 100% refund if the withdrawal is made 15 days or more before the formally notified last date of admission.
- 90% refund if the withdrawal is made less than 15 days before the last admission date.
- 80% refund if the withdrawal is made within 15 days after the last admission date.
- 50% refund if the withdrawal is made between 15 to 30 days after the last admission date.
- No refund if the withdrawal is made more than 30 days after the last date of admission.
This policy aims to facilitate the smooth transfer of students between institutions and ensure their financial security. In cases where institutions fail to comply with the refund guidelines, students can lodge complaints through the UGC’s online complaint redressal portal,

If you have applied for admisssion in any college recognized and validated by the UGC and in case you withdraw/migrate your application from the institution within a maximum of 30 days after the last date of admission, then you are eligible for a fee refund as per UGC guidelines.
