In the THE World University Rankings 2024, IISc Bengaluru secured a rank within the range of 201–250 in Physical Sciences. Top position was claimed by California Institute of Technology, followed by Harvard University, Stanford University.

New Delhi: The Times Higher Education (THE) has released the 2024 World University Rankings by subject in which IISc Bengaluru has secured the leading position in India across four subjects: Physical Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, and Life Sciences.

Specifically in Physical Sciences, IISc Bengaluru secured a ranking within the range of 201–250. Globally, top position was claimed by California Institute of Technology, followed by Harvard University, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and University of Cambridge.

The California Institute of Technology has secured the top global position, with subsequent ranks held by Harvard University, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and University of Cambridge.

In the list of engineering, IISc Bengaluru is positioned within the 101-125 rank bracket globally, yet stands as the foremost institution in India. Globally, Harvard University led the engineering list, followed by Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Oxford, and University of Cambridge.

In arts and humanities category, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and University of Delhi (DU) have secured positions within the 501-600 range. Globally, the top three positions in this category were claimed by Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Cambridge.

Regarding the business and economics category, Jamia Millia Islamia achieved the leading position in the Indian region, attaining a rank within the 401-500 range. Globally, the top three spots were held by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, and Harvard University.

In clinical and health, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) led the roster of Indian institutes, securing a ranking within the 201–250 range. Banaras Hindu University, Panjab University and Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences obtained rankings ranging from 301 to 400.

Notably, no Indian university managed to secure a position in the subject list for 'Law’. For THE World University Rankings 2024 by subject, universities were evaluated across five components: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook.
