St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata has started admissions for its five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com LL.B. (Hons.) programmes for the 2026 session. Interested candidates must complete the online application before the deadline and appear for the Xavier Law Admission Test (XLAT) 2026, which will decide provisional selection.
The university will conduct the test in an internet-based mode with remote proctoring. Applicants should check eligibility, fee details, and exam schedule carefully before submitting the form.

The university has released the official fee structure for Session 2026–2031. The total academic cost for both programmes is approximately ₹7.86 lakh, excluding refundable or one-time components.

Who is Eligible to Apply?
Candidates must meet the following key eligibility conditions:
- Maximum age: 20 years (22 years for SC/ST/OBC) as on July 1, 2026
- Must pass Class 12 (+2) from a recognised board
- Minimum 45% aggregate marks required
- Must have studied English at +2 level
- Gap of more than 3 years after Class 12 is not allowed
Admission remains provisional until final board results are verified.
The Xavier Law Admission Test (XLAT) 2026 will be conducted in Internet-Based Test (IBT) mode with full remote proctoring.
Candidates can take the exam either from home using a desktop or laptop with the required technical setup and stable internet connection, or they may choose to appear at the university campus, where limited seats will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis for those needing technical support. Once selected, the test mode cannot be changed.

The XLAT 2026 will be conducted for a total of 100 marks with a duration of 2 hours. The paper will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.
For B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), the section-wise distribution includes English (15 marks), General Awareness (30 marks), Legal Awareness & Logical Reasoning (45 marks), and Mathematical Aptitude (10 marks).
For B.Com LL.B. (Hons.), the weightage is English (15 marks), General Awareness (10 marks), Legal Awareness & Logical Reasoning (45 marks), and Mathematical Aptitude (30 marks), making the total 100 marks for both programmes.
Documents Required
Applicants should keep scanned copies ready:
- Photograph & signature
- Aadhaar card (both sides)
- Class 10 & 12 marksheets
- Category/EWS/Disability certificates (if applicable)
- Baptism certificate for Christian candidates
