SVKM’s NMIMS Indore School of Technology Management & Engineering (STME) is implementing a new non-credit course titled “Community Services” for all B.Tech. / MBA Tech.

New Delhi: SVKM’s NMIMS Indore School of Technology Management & Engineering (STME) has taken commendable steps towards nurturing socially responsible leaders by introducing a course "Community Services” for all B.Tech and M.Tech students. Students admitted from the academic year 2021-22 onwards. Students admitted later (Diploma to Degree and similar) from the academic year 2022-23 onwards at all STME campuses.

NMIMS Indore Community Services course equips students to engage in non-credit courses designed to contribute back to the community and make a positive impact. The Community Service course will stretch up to three consecutive weeks during the summer vacation between Semester II and Semester III for first-year students. For lateral entry students during the summer vacation between Semester IV and Semester V.

The core course includes the service learning method that will effectively combine academic work with service activities. Through this course, students will not only be able to gather practical experiences but also can develop and enhance organizational, and leadership skills, and character. Students will also understand the critical issues facing society and be encouraged students to contribute back to society.

According to Dr. Aquil Bunglowala, Associate Dean, STME, Indore, “We strongly believe that education extends beyond textbooks and traditional classrooms. Our ‘Community Services’ course offers our students the opportunity to venture beyond their classrooms and immerse themselves in real-world experiences. By engaging with communities and addressing issues, they will develop a deep sense of empathy and social responsibility. This course perfectly aligns with our goal of nurturing leaders who can bring about change in the world.”

After the completion of this course, students will be equipped with several skills such as increased self-awareness, improved interpersonal communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Students will also develop empathy, compassion, and cooperation while enhancing their critical thinking and communication abilities.

The course aimed to equip aspirants with the vision and mission of STME, to produce socially responsible citizens who will be proficient in both engineering and management disciplines.
