St. Xavier's College PhD Essential Qualification

Candidates interested in applying for PhD programs at SXC Kolkata must fulfill the following qualifications depending on the discipline:

• Physics: CSIR NET /SET/ GATE Qualified in Physics with valid NET/SET/GATE Score.
• Microbiology: CSIR NET /SET/ GATE Qualified in approved all branches of Life Sciences with valid NET/SET/GATE Score.
• Biotechnology: CSIR NET /SET/ GATE Qualified in approved all branches of Life Sciences with valid NET/SET/GATE Score.
• Computer Science: UGC NET Qualified in Computer Science with valid NET/SET/GATE Score or M.Tech. in Computer Science with at least 55% mark from a UGC recognized University.

St. Xavier's College PhD Admission Categories

SXC Kolkata is offering admission under the following categories:

1. JRF Category: Candidates with valid Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) will be admitted based on viva voce, with 100% weightage assigned to the interview.
2. NET/SET Score Categories: Candidates who qualify for Assistant Professorship or those eligible for PhD based on their NET/SET score will be evaluated with a weightage of 70% for the NET/SET score and 30% for the interview performance.
3. Non-JRF Candidates: Candidates without JRF but with a valid NET/SET score can apply and will be evaluated under the NET/SET categories as per the aforementioned weightage.
