New Delhi: The NEET MDS 2024, initially scheduled by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for February 5, 2024, is postponed to March 18, 2024, after a petition was filed in the Supreme Court of India on February 16, 2024. The petition requested a revision of the internship cutoff dates.
Recently, the Supreme Court decided not to interfere in this matter and has approved the Union government to make the final decision. The application window for NEET MDS 2024 was open from January 30 to February 19, 2024. If the exam is rescheduled, the application window may reopen.
Some candidates expressed that the decision to postpone NEET PG but not NEET MDS was discriminatory. Over 10,000 students have reportedly signed a petition urging the postponement of NEET MDS 2024 to July, and a campaign on Twitter has been initiated for the cause. With less than two months left for the NEET MDS exam, dental graduates are raising concerns on social media.

The uncertainty of the NEET MDS 2024 exam date is essential for the candidates, and based on previous years, there were expectations of a postponement. NEET MDS is the entrance exam to around 6,228 Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) seats in 259 dental colleges.
The petition states "It is evident that counselling has always commenced after the internship cut-off date. In 2023 too internship cut-off date was June 30, 2023 for NEET MDS and tentative common counselling for NEET PG and NEET MDS was issued only in August 2023."
