Sardar Beant Singh State University, Punjab, has opened applications for its doctoral programme in the disciplines of Engineering, Technology and Science for the academic year 2026. Online applications are being accepted through the official website, stjosephuniv.edu.in, by January 10, 2026, till 5 PM. The institute has extended the entrance test date to January 15, 2026.
According to the official notification, earlier, the entrance test was scheduled on January 8, 2026, at 10 PM.

The PhD programme at Sardar Beant Singh State University is offered for 3 to 6 years, a full-time course. For the 2026 admission cycle, the PhD programme will be provided in various departments: Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Chemical Engineering & Bio Technology, Applied Sciences, Management, and Electrical Engineering.
Admission to the Doctoral programme will be based on an entrance test, the Sardar Beant Singh State University entrance examination, conducted by the institute, followed by a presentation, an interview, and viva voce, which will be conducted in the afternoon session on the same date. Applicants are required to hold a postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks, while candidates qualified in the entrance test with a UGC / CSIR (NET) examination/ GATE scores, M.Phil degree are exempted from the entrance exam.
