New Delhi: In collaboration with UNESCO, the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) has announced admissions for the MS-PhD degree program for the academic session 2024-25. The application deadline for this course is April 30, 2024.
The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) is designated as an institution of National Importance under an Act of Parliament by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
Applicants from India must register online for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology (GAT-B). RCB will conduct GAT-B through the National Testing Agency. Following GAT-B, candidates must submit a separate online application to RCB.

Ans. The programme duration is 5 to 7 Years.
What is the Eligibility Criteria Required?
Indian and foreign students holding a graduate degree in science, technology, engineering, or medicine are eligible for the MS-PhD degree program in 2024. Final-year students expected to graduate by August 2024 can also apply.
Applicants must have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or Medicine. There is a 5% relaxation for students from SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PwD categories. Students in their final year are eligible, provided they can provide proof of securing the required marks at admission. Eligible students need to take the GAT-B for selection.
Shortlisted candidates will undergo an interview, and their selection will be based on their performance in both the GAT-B and the interview. Up to 20 students who meet the criteria may be admitted, with reservations as per statutory norms.
What is the Amount of Fellowship Given?
The Indian and Foreign students admitted to the programme shall receive the RCB Ramachandran-DBT fellowship of INR 16000 per month for the first 2 years of the programme, after which an Indian student is required to qualify for the junior/senior research fellowships offered by CSIR, ICMR, DBT, or such other funding agencies.
The performance of the foreign students, after completion of their MSc component of the programme, shall be evaluated by the Student Advisory Committee, and based on its positive recommendation the student shall be awarded the RCB-DBT International Doctoral Fellowship equivalent to the fellowship offered to an Indian student by other funding agencies as per the relevant DST guidelines. Currently, the amount is INR 37,000 per month for Junior Research Fellowship and INR 42,000 per month for the Senior Research Fellowship.
Que. What is the application fees for MS PhD admission?
Ans. Eligible candidates may apply online for admission to the MS-PhD Programme of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology. The application fee of INR 500 may be paid online. The SC, ST, PwD, EWS, and foreign candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee.
