Ranchi University PhD Test 2024-25 Application Extended; Apply by February 24

Ranchi University is inviting applications for admission to PhD programs for the 2024-25 academic year. Candidates have to apply for the PhD entrance exam and pay the application fee of INR 2,000.

The downloaded application form along with the DD of the examination fee, payable to the ‘Registrar, Ranchi University’ should be deposited in the office of the Controller of Examinations, Ranchi University.

The form and application fee DD can also be sent by registered post to the address: Controller of Examinations, Ranchi University, Shaheed Chowk, Ranchi, Jharkhand - 834001.

Ranchi University PhD Test 2024-25 Application Schedule

Ranchi University has extended the application deadline for the Ph.D. Entrance Test due to issues with caste and income certificates:

Ranchi University PhD Test 2024-25 Eligibility Criteria

• 1-year Master's degree (after 4-year Bachelor’s degree) or 2-year Master's degree (after 3-year Bachelor’s degree) with at least 55% marks.
• 4-year Bachelor's degree with research should have a minimum CGPA of 7.5.
• M.Phil coursework with at least 55% marks.
• A relaxation of 5% of marks or 0.5 CGPA score will be allowed for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/Differently-abled candidates.

A person whose M.Phil dissertation has been evaluated and recommended for award of the degree may be admitted to the PhD program on a provisional basis even before the viva-voice or final defence.

The qualifying marks of the entrance test will be 50%. A relaxation of 5% of marks will be allowed for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/Differently-abled candidates.

Based on marks obtained in the Entrance Test, a merit list will be prepared of eligible candidates for interview/viva voce. The final merit list will be prepared after the interview/viva voce of all shortlisted candidates is over.

The weightage of marks taken into account for preparing the final merit list will be 70% for the entrance test and 30% for the performance in the interview/viva voce.

PhD Entrance Test for 2024-25 will be conducted in OMR-based mode. The provision of negative marks against incorrect/wrong answers in the written exam has been removed. The questions of the written exam will be bilingual, i.e., Hindi and English.
