New Delhi: Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, announced on Wednesday that Ranchi would get a second new medical school on the model of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), the top medical school in the state.

Along with distributing appointment letters to 38 newly appointed dentists, he was speaking at a ceremony here to introduce 206 new ambulances. According to Soren, "On the same lines as RIMS, a second new medical college will be founded in Ranchi, where efforts would be made to provide facilities of the highest calibre".

The 206 ambulances are divided into 131 with basic life support systems and 51 with advanced life support systems. The chief minister also unveiled the Mamta Vahan App, the critical illness programme, and the Ayushman App in addition to launching five medical mobile units.

According to him, the objective of adding a medical school and other facilities is to equalise access to healthcare for both the wealthy and the underprivileged. He stated that attempts will be made to reinstate the ability for pharmacy shops to be found not only in panchayats but also in every hamlet. The government has already resolved to open drug stores at the panchayat level.

He claimed that this would enable young people to work for themselves. He also stated that Jharkhand is the only state in the nation where the state government offers affordable air ambulance services to regular folks. If BPL families require an air ambulance, this facility will be made available to them as well as to privileged individuals. He declared that the state's medical facilities would be improved.
