The Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) has chosen to conduct semester examinations online After Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stepped amid an increase in Omicron cases in Bhopal. Exams have also been postponed by the institution. Exams for the fifth and seventh semesters were originally planned to begin on December 16, but will now commence on the last week of December.

Rajiv Gandhi Technological University (RGPV), Madhya Pradesh has planned to conduct the examinations via the online mode. Earlier, the offline examinations were scheduled to begin on December 10.

As the RGPV students were protesting and running campaigns demanding the cancellation of the offline exams, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed the Technical Education Department to conduct the examinations through the online mode.

Consequently, the Department of Technical Education, Skill Development & Employment, Government of Madhya Pradesh issued a statement notifying that the chief minister has directed to hold the examination online for the students of Rajiv Gandhi Technological University.

The statement also mentioned that the decision to conduct the examination online instead of offline was taken considering the safety of the students.

Earlier, this week, a huge number of students gathered and staged a massive protest on the university’s campus premises. They raised slogans against the conduction of offline exams and threatened to boycott the exams if it would not be cancelled.

The practical exams were postponed by the university administration last week, citing the Covid-19 protocols. According to the statement issued by the exam controller, the practical exams will be conducted after the completion of the theory papers.

Initially, the university administration had decided to conduct the offline exams from December 10, 2021. However, the students argued that they were not in favor of offline exams as they didn't have any accommodation facilities.
