PSSOU, Bilaspur, has officially scheduled the PRET 2025 for admission to its PhD program on October 10, 2025.

Pt. Sunderlal Sharma (Open) University, Bilaspur has now moved ahead with its research admission process by declaring the entrance exam date for its PhD program for the academic session 2025-26.
Candidates seeking doctoral studies at the university must appear for the PSSOU Research Entrance Test (PRET), which will be conducted on October 10, 2025, as per the recent university notification.

PSSOU PhD Admission Process 2025
The admission is carried out in two stages- initial eligibility and entrance-based or direct entry, followed by an interview and departmental assessment.
Stage 1: Admission based on entrance criteria and eligibility
1. UGC NET Qualified Candidates
- Candidates who have cleared UGC NET will be admitted into the Ph.D. program without taking the University PhD entrance test.
- 70% of the merit will be based on UGC NET scores.
- 30% of the merit will be based on the interview process.
- Applicants must submit their UGC NET Qualification Certificate and scorecard when applying.
2. Admission based on Entrance Test (PRET)
- Conducted only in subjects where the number of UGC NET qualified applicants is insufficient.
- The University reserves the right to cancel the entrance test if there are sufficient NET qualified candidates applying in a subject.
- Eligible candidates (who meet all criteria but have not cleared UGC NET) are allowed to sit for the entrance test.
- A minimum qualifying score of 50% is required to clear the entrance test.
- 50% of the entrance examination is based on subject area.
3. Merit and Weightage System for Entrance-Based candidates
- 70% of the merit will be based on the entrance test.
- 30% of the merit will be based on the interview.
- A separate merit list will be produced for UGC NET qualified individuals and individuals qualified through the entrance test.
- SET qualified candidates (that qualify) through the entrance test will be given second priority after UGC NET qualified candidates.

Stage 2: Interview with the Departmental Research Committee
- Candidates who have applied through the NET or entrance routes and have been shortlisted are called for either an interview or oral presentation.
- Candidates must present their research interest in front of the Departmental Research Committee.
- The research committee will evaluate:
- The candidate's readiness and potential for research.
- The feasibility and clarity of the research proposed.
- The proposed research's potential contribution to original and/or additional knowledge.
