Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) faculty member wins the Rao Bahadur V Ramanatha Iyer Award at the ninth Asian Cotton Conference, along with Dharminder Pathak, being honored by the Indian Society for Cotton Improvement (ISCI Mumbai).

PAU Faculty Member Gains Recognition at Asian Cotton Conference

New Delhi; During the ninth Asian Cotton Research and Development Network Meeting and International Conference, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) faculty member received the Rao Bahadur V Ramanatha Iyer Award. The Indian Society for Cotton Improvement (ISCI Mumbai) also recognized PAU's principal cotton breeder, Dharminder Pathak, with an honor.

Dharminder Pathak, a faculty member at PAU Plant Breeding and Genetics Department was recognized at the international conference themed 'Innovations for resilient and sustainable cotton production and viable value chain'.

More About the works of Dharminder Pathak

The conference, hosted by ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology in Mumbai last month, acknowledged Pathak for his remarkable contributions to cotton breeding. Having played a key role in developing over 20 cotton varieties, he is actively involved in leveraging related species for genetic enhancements.

Further, Pathak's research papers, were also published in high-impact factor journals, contributing to his significant contribution. Meanwhile, a poster titled 'Genetic variation for fibre quality traits in the interspecific backcross derivatives of cotton' clinched the Best Poster Award at the conference. Co-authored by Veerpal, Dharminder Pathak, Salil Jindal, Pankaj Rathore, and Hamid Hasan, the research conducted by Veerpal was guided by her major advisor, Dharminder Pathak.

Further, PAU Vice-Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal, Director of Research AS Dhatt, and Head of the Plant Breeding and Genetics department VS Sohu extended congratulations to Pathak for the international conference accolades and offered best wishes for their future endeavors.
