Patna University PhD Admission 2026 Open for PAT Qualified Candidates; Apply by January 21

Patna University has invited applications for its doctoral programme for the academic year 2026 from candidates who have been declared qualified in the PhD Admission Test (PAT) conducted by Patna University or have qualified for NET/JRF. Online applications are being accepted through the official website, pup.ac.in, by January 21, 2026.

Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the Common Ordinance and Regulations for the award of a PhD degree must deposit an online fee of INR 300 only. The selection will be based on the availability of seats in the concerned subject.

Candidates have to submit the printed copy of the duly filled-out form, complete in all respects, along with the self-attested copies of the academic records and other relevant documents, which will be accepted in the Department of the subject concerned by hand or by speed post.

Patna University PhD Highlights 2026

The PhD programme at Patna University is offered for 3 to 6 years, a full-time and part-time course. For the 2026 admission cycle, the PhD programme will be provided in various subjects mentioned below in the table, along with the vacant seats.

Selected candidates have to pay the online course fee of INR 2,000 only, and coursework for the provisionally admitted students will begin from February 21, 2026, at the faculty level.

Furthermore, the concerned Department will interview within a week after the last date of submission of online applications, and the merit list will be prepared. However, 10 marks will be given to the teachers and non-teaching JRF employees having more than three years of experience. After completion of the admission rounds, the department will release the final list of selected candidates.
