NTA’s May Delay CUET UG 2024 Results; Largely Affecting Admission Process at DU, BHU and JNU

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is facing continuous disruptions, this may delay the announcement of the CUET-UG 2024 results and subsequently affect the admissions calendar. The primary reasons for this delay are logistical challenges and technical issues within the NTA.

Universities are preparing for a potential delay in admissions and creating backup plans to handle the delays. These plans might include extending application deadlines and adjusting academic calendars. The CUET-UG 2024 exam was conducted from May 15 to May 29, 2024, and NTA has notified that the result will be released on June 30, 2024.

Delhi University (DU) Admissions

The second phase of admissions, where applicants indicate college and program preferences, depends on the release of CUET-UG results. The university plans to open the phase two admissions portal by July 2, 2024. DU has 71,000 seats to be filled based on CUET-UG scores. The new academic year was planned to start by August 1, 2024. DU officials stated that the university must adjust its calendar if results are delayed.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Admissions

Expressing their views on the CUET-UG 2024 result delay, JNU officials stated “If there is a delay in the CUET result announcement, then there will be repercussions on the admissions cycle of the entire country and not just JNU. But for now, we will only proceed forward and decide what to do if there is a delay based on how and when the NTA would notify us.”

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Admissions

Bhaskar Bhattacharya, the chairman of the central admission committee BHU, said: “If there is going to be a delay in this year’s CUET results, there is definitely going to be an impact on our academic calendar. Ideally, if the results would be announced by June 30, our session this year would start at the latest by mid or end of August. But if there is a delay, since as per the NEP, it is a four year program, our modification plans would include cutting down on vacations and adjusting the academic calendar for these students. Additionally, if there is a delay this year, we won’t be able to start our new session in August.”

NTA’s Response to Universities Statements

The NTA has yet to announce a new date to release the CUET UG 2024 results. However, they are working hard to fix the issues quickly to reduce the impact on students and institutions. NTA further advised students waiting for their CUET UG results to regularly check the official NTA website and other reliable sources for updates. They should also stay in touch with the admissions offices of the universities they applied to for any changes in the admission schedule.
