NSOU Ph.D Admissions 2025 Live Now; Apply by October 8

Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) is inviting online applications for its Ph.D 2024-2025. The deadline date for submitting applications is October 8, 2025 and the document verification will be conducted on November 4, 2025.

Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) has officially published its admission notice for its doctoral programmes in 16 disciplines and a total of 43 Ph.D. vacancies. The admissions are held according to UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degrees) Regulations, 2022 and NSOU Ph.D. Regulations, 2023.

NSOU Ph.D Application Process

• Complete the application process through the official NSOU admission portal.
• Enter your academic details, upload scanned copies of documents, statement of purpose/research proposal (maximum 3000 words) and photographs/signature
• Send completed applications to the email provided: phd@wbnsou.ac.in
• Pay the application fees of INR 2,000 using the National Payment Gateway

NSOU Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

• Master's degree (1 year/2 semesters after 4 year UG or 2 year after 3 year UG) with at least 55% marks
• OR M.Phil. with at least 55% marks
• Candidates with UG degree alone must have 75% marks or equivalent grade
• Relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PwD candidates as per WB Govt. norms
• Candidates must satisfy the eligibility guidelines of the UGC dated 27th March 2024

NSOU Ph.D Selection Process

• Screening would be done initially against the order 1. Eligibility, 2. Documents, 3. Research Proposal
• Selected candidates, where appropriate, may then take an interview (online/offline) and be carried out by the Departmental Research Committee (DRC)
• Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/GATE/CEED are considered as per UGC (2023) norms.
