NPTEL GATE 2024 Registration Portal Receives 50,700 Applications

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM) has confirmed that it has received around 50,700 registrations through GATE 2024 Portal. The portal is managed by NPTEL ( National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning ).

NPTEL is a joint initiative of various IITs including IIT Madras and IISc, Bengaluru. The NPTEL portal was launched in August 2022. According to the statistics mentioned in the press release, from August 2022 to February 2023, students completed 115 mock tests across six key subjects - Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Physics, and Chemistry. 

Among the live preparation sessions, 3,975 students participated in 521 Phase 1 sessions and 3,321 students in 367 Phase 2 sessions. Phase 3 live sessions are currently ongoing. 

GATE 2024 Previous Year Question Papers, Mock Tests Available

Students can access previous years' question papers from 2007 to 2022 through the NPTEL-GATE. In the last session ,students attempted 115 mock tests across six key subjects - electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electronics and communication, physics, and chemistry – between August 2022 and February 2023. 

More than 7 to 10 lakh students appear in the GATE exam. In 2023, approximately 7 lakh students registered for the GATE exam, of which around one lakh students qualified.

“The high participation of students in mock tests and live sessions demonstrates their commitment to adequate GATE exam preparation using the portal's expansive resources. The NPTEL-GATE portal provides a lot of benefits for GATE aspirants and offers all these features for free, democratizing access to high-quality educational content," said Prof Andrew Thangaraj, Coordinator, NPTEL-IIT Madras.
