New Delhi: The AS Adke Tennis Academy at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) Surathkal inaugurated Tennis Court 1 on March 29, 2024 which was donated by the alumni of the 1973 Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) batch, which is now NIT Karnataka.

The tennis court was constructed using synthetic materials in accordance to International Tennis Federation (ITF) standards. NIT Karnataka director B Ravi supervised the court inauguration ceremony. The attendees at the inaugeration included alumni, faculty, staff, and students from the 1973 batch.

B Ravi expressed appreciation: “The KREC batch of 1973's generous contribution enhances our sports facilities and serves as an inspiration. Their dedication exemplifies the spirit of giving back. This modern tennis court will nurture student athletes and instill values of perseverance and teamwork."

Dayananda Surathkal, an alumnus from the KREC 1973 batch, played a pivotal role in the court's construction, demonstrating unwavering dedication from inception to completion.

The institute appreciated the KREC batch of 1973 for their generous donation and further added, “We look forward to nurturing future tennis champions on this state-of-the-art court.”
