The NIT Rourkela will start registration for CSAB on June 19 for admission into multiple engineering colleges through valid JEE Main scores. The admission process will be conducted for 31 NITs, IIEST, 26 IIITs, 3 SPA, and 36 GFTIs.

New Delhi: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela is all set to initiate the registration process for the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) from today, June 19, 2023. This process is for admission to various engineering colleges based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main.
The CSAB admission process covers a wide range of institutes including 31 NITs, the Indian Institute of Engineering, Science, and Technology (IIEST), 26 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), 3 Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPA), and 36 Government funded technical institutes (GFTIs).
Candidates who have qualified in the JEE Main examination and meet the eligibility criteria for these institutes can participate in the CSAB registration process. This provides them with an opportunity to secure admission into prestigious technology institutes across the country.
Approximately 2.5 to 3 lakh candidates who qualified for the JEE Main 2023 are expected to register for CSAB counseling. The counseling will be conducted to offer admission to approximately 40,000 seats, including a 20 percent reservation for female students.
Some of the key changes include the requirement of a minimum of 75 percent marks in Class 12 or being in the top 20 percentile for general candidates. For SC, ST, and PwD students, the qualifying marks would be 65 percent in Class 12.
Candidates having less than 40% disability but having difficulty in writing and having availed the services of a scribe or extra time during the exam will be required to do the physical verification at the verification centre.
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates are permitted to participate in the counselling process under the general category.
Candidates with less than 40% disability but facing challenges in writing and who have used the assistance of a scribe or additional time during the exam will need to undergo physical verification at the designated verification center.
If a candidate's category changes during the JoSAA Counselling, they can revert to their original birth category by providing a valid certificate during the registration phase of CSAB special round.
Further, NIT Rourkela has also introduced an online platform where candidates can apply for the restoration of their birth category by submitting a valid category certificate.
The CSAB special round at NIT Rourkela will commence once the JoSAA counseling concludes. Supernumerary rounds will be conducted for Union Territories in specific NITs, along with NEUT rounds starting from June 26. These rounds aim to allocate seats under the scheme of "reservation of seats in degree level technical courses for states/UTs lacking such facilities in AICTE-approved institutions."
