The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur has officially released the provisional list of candidates eligible for the PhD entrance test for Spring 2026 admission. The list includes applicants who are required to appear for the written examination and those who have been granted exemption as per institute norms.

The PhD written test is scheduled for January 20, 2026, and will be conducted in multiple slots for different departments. Eligible candidates must follow the examination schedule and instructions shared by the institute.

The PhD entrance examination will be conducted on January 20, 2026 (Tuesday) in four slots. NIT Raipur departments including Architecture, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Humanities & Social Sciences, and several others are allotted specific time slots. The duration of each test is one hour, and candidates must appear strictly as per their assigned department slot.

Candidates must report at least 45 minutes before the start of their examination slot. A valid government-issued photo ID such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Driving Licence is mandatory for entry.

Candidates who have applied to more than one department are required to appear for each written test separately. Late entry will not be permitted once the examination has started.

Applicants who have qualified NET (Lectureship) or hold an M.Phil degree may avail exemption from the written test as per Clause 2.3 of the Information Bulletin.

However, such candidates must appear directly for the interview and will not be eligible for the Institute Fellowship unless they qualify the written entrance examination.

Candidates who qualify the written test will be called for a personal interview on January 20 or January 21, 2026, depending on the department schedule. The admit card will be available one week before the exam date on the institute website.

Applicants are advised to regularly check the official portal for updates related to interviews, document verification, and final selection.

Candidates shortlisted for the interview must carry original academic certificates, proof of eligibility, photo ID, category certificate (if applicable), and NET/GATE scorecards, wherever relevant. Failure to produce required documents may lead to disqualification at later stages.
