NIT Manipur admits PhD students under the following categories:

NIT Manipur PhD Qualification Required
Candidates interested in pursuing PhD from NIT Manipur can check the essential qualifications required for different departments:
Computer Science and Engineering
- Master's Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in IT/CSE or relevant subjects with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or 60% marks from a recognized University/Institute.
OR
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology with an excellent academic record and a minimum of 7.5 CPI/CGPA or 70% marks from a recognized University/Institute and a valid GATE score.
Chemistry
- Master's Degree in Science in relevant subjects with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or 60% marks from a recognized University/ Institute
- GATE/NET qualified candidates preferred

NIT Manipur PhD Important Instructions
- Sponsored candidates must submit their NOC while submitting the online application form.
- Written tests and interviews will be conducted for non-GATE and non-NET candidates through offline mode.
- Only interviews will be conducted for GATE and NET-qualified candidates through offline mode.
- No separate acknowledgement or call letter will be sent by the institute for appearing in the Written Test.
- Candidates must bring any standard Photo l-Card (in Original) with a photocopy thereof, such as an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, EPIC card, Driving License, I-card issued by their Employer, or any Govt./ Public Sector Organizations etc.
- Candidates reporting without any standard l-Card (in original) as stated above shall not be allowed to appear in the Written Test / Selection / Interview.
- Candidates must report to the Institute at least 30 minutes before the start of the Written Test or else they will not be allowed to appear in the written Test.
- No correspondence will be entertained with the candidates who are not called for counselling/selected for appointment.
