NHIDCL and NIT Jamshedpur have inked an MoU to exchange expertise and insights in the field of highway technology and fundamental infrastructure projects. The agreement was signed by representatives from both organizations during a function in Delhi.

New Delhi: The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has joined hands with the National Institute of Technology, NIT Jamshedpur, to exchange knowledge and expertise in highway technology and fundamental infrastructure development projects. 

According to the NIT Jamshedpur's statement, the agreement was signed during a function in Delhi, with NIT Jamshedpur registrar Colonel (retd) D Nisheeth Kumar Rai and NHIDCL's managing director Chanchal Kumar signing the agreement.

As a part of the partnership, NIT Jamshedpur and NHIDCL will share technical expertise, encompassing the design of national highways, project frameworks, supervision, security, and adherence to quality guidelines. Their collaboration aims to find practical solutions to challenges in developing highways in challenging terrains.

Speaking about the collaboration, NIT Faculty member, Director Goutam Sutradhar mentioned that NIT would work collaboratively with NHIDCL to identify and tackle transportation engineering-related challenges. 

He further added that NIT would conduct geological surveys of the designated construction area, handle underground excavation, and perform analysis.

Expressing his delight, MD of NHIDCL, Chanchal Kumar, said that the collaboration with NIT would bring valuable technological expertise to the agency's efforts in establishing regional connectivity.

NHIDCL, a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, is entrusted with the development, maintenance, and management of National Highways in various regions, including the North-East part of India, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and hilly areas of Uttarakhand.

As a specialized agency in high-altitude and border areas, NHIDCL is actively involved in constructing logistics hubs and transportation-related infrastructure, such as multi-modal transport hubs, bus ports, container depots, and automated multilevel car parking facilities.
