NIFT Counselling 2026 Schedule Released at nift.admissions.nic.in; Round 1 Registration and Choice Filling Begin

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has released the NIFT Counselling 2026 schedule and opened Round 1 registration and choice filling on its official admissions portal at nift.admissions.nic.in. The notice covers seat allocation for the Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and UG Lateral Entry programmes for the 2026 academic session.

As per the official notification on the NIFT admissions portal, qualified candidates from the NIFT 2026 entrance examination can now register, fill choices and lock preferences for their preferred campuses and programmes. The final result for UG and PG programmes was declared on June 03, 2026.

NIFT has also published three supporting documents on the portal. These are the Notification for Seat Allocation, the Admissions Schedule 2026 and the Guidelines for Seat Allocation 2026. Candidates must read all three before locking their choices.

NIFT 2026 Counselling Tracks

The admissions portal now hosts three separate counselling streams. Each stream has its own registration and choice-filling flow.

• UG Counselling 2026 for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.FTech) programmes.
• UG Lateral Entry Counselling 2026 for direct admission to higher semesters under the lateral entry scheme.
• PG Counselling 2026 for Master of Design (M.Des), Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Fashion Technology (M.FTech) programmes.
• Candidates must use the same login credentials used during the NIFT 2026 application stage. Each candidate can register only under the track for which they have qualified.

How to Register and Fill Choices for NIFT Counselling 2026?

The registration and choice-filling window for Round 1 is now live on the admissions portal. Candidates must complete every step in the listed order. Incomplete profiles will not move to seat allotment.

• Visit the official portal at nift.admissions.nic.in.
• Click on the relevant counselling link (UG, UG Lateral Entry or PG).
• Log in using your NIFT 2026 application credentials.
• Complete the counselling registration form and upload required documents.
• Open the choice-filling section and select preferred campuses and programmes in order of priority.
• Lock the choices once you are satisfied with the order.
• Save and download the confirmation page for future reference.

How Will NIFT 2026 Seat Allotment Work?

Seat allotment will be based on the candidate's NIFT 2026 merit rank and locked choices. NIFT will run multiple seat allotment rounds before opening the spot round for remaining vacancies.

After each allotment, candidates must accept the allotted seat and pay the seat acceptance fee within the deadline. Failure to confirm the seat in the given window will lead to cancellation of the allotment.
