NID B.Des Final Result 2026 Soon

The National Institute of Design (NID) is expected to announce the B.Des final result for 2026 in the coming days. The result will be declared on the official NID admission portal at admissions.nid.edu. Candidates who appeared for the NID DAT B.Des Mains examination comprising Studio Sensitivity Test (60% weightage) and In-Person Sensitivity Test (40% weightage) can check their scores using their email ID and date of birth. The final result will be prepared based on the DAT Mains scores only, as the Prelims exam was conducted solely for shortlisting candidates.

The NID B.Des Mains examination was conducted on April 19, 2026 (Studio Sensitivity Test) and April 26, 2026 (In-Person Sensitivity Test). Candidates who qualified the Prelims round were eligible to appear for the Mains examination. The final merit list will be generated category-wise including Open, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories. A total of 425 B.Des seats are available across five NID campuses: NID Ahmedabad (125 seats), NID Andhra Pradesh (75 seats), NID Haryana (75 seats), NID Madhya Pradesh (75 seats), and NID Assam (75 seats).

Once the result is declared, the NID Rechecking Window will open for 2-3 days for candidates to request rechecking of their scorecards. A fee of INR 2,000 will be charged for the rechecking service, which must be paid online. Candidates can request rechecking only after the completion of the admission process begins. The rechecking window will allow candidates to verify their scores and ensure accuracy before proceeding with seat allotment.

After the result declaration, candidates will need to submit their institute campus preferences. The window to submit campus preferences will open after the DAT Mains results are declared. Candidates must carefully select their preferred NID campuses based on their rank and category. The seat allotment will be based on the candidate's merit rank, category, seat intake of the applied program, and campus preference selected during counselling.

The minimum qualifying criteria for NID B.Des admission varies by category. Open and GEN-EWS category candidates must score a minimum of 50%. OBC-NCL candidates require 45% minimum marks. SC, ST, and PwD candidates need 40% minimum marks. Overseas candidates must secure 50% minimum marks. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifying criteria in their respective category will be eligible for seat allotment.

In case of tie-breaking where two or more candidates score the same total marks, the following criteria will be applied in order: higher marks in Studio Sensitivity Test, higher marks in Studio Sensitivity Test Question 3, higher marks in Studio Sensitivity Test Question 1, and if tie persists, same rank will be allotted to candidates. The final merit list will be prepared based on these tie-breaking rules to ensure fair and transparent selection.

After seat allotment in Round 1, shortlisted candidates must confirm their seat by paying the non-refundable token fees and uploading required documents. The required documents include valid photo identity, birth certificate or school leaving certificate, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, semester-wise marksheets, graduation certificate, migration certificate, category certificate if applicable, disability certificate if applicable, and certificate of identity from district magistrate if applicable. All documents must be uploaded as a single PDF file with maximum size of 10 MB.

Following document verification, candidates will be issued provisional offer letters for admission. The provisional offer letter for B.Des will be issued in May 2026 (expected). Candidates must produce the offer letter at the time of admission to their allotted NID campus. The admission process will involve completing registration formalities and paying the required fees as per the fee structure released by NID.
