The University of Mumbai (MU) has released the Postgraduate (PG) Second Merit List 2026. The list is now live at muadmission.samarth.edu.in. Shortlisted candidates can log in and check their allotted seats.
The Second Merit List covers applicants who missed the First Merit List. It also reflects seats vacated after the first round. Allotment is based on merit, programme preference, and category reservation.
The list covers all postgraduate programmes offered through the centralised portal. It includes Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Science (MSc) courses. It also covers Master of Commerce (MCom) and professional programmes.
Selected candidates must upload documents online for verification. They must also pay the admission fee within the stated window. Missing the deadline will cancel the allotted seat.
The PG First Merit List was released on June 3, 2026. Fee payment for the first round ran June 4 to 6. The Second List window will follow a similar short cycle.

Who Can Confirm a Seat from the Second Merit List?
Only candidates listed in the Second Merit List can confirm a seat. The list shows the programme, college, and category rank. Each candidate must check the exact programme and college shown.
Candidates already admitted under the First Merit List cannot apply again. They must contact the allotted college for upgradation or transfer queries. Such requests follow the rules listed in the official prospectus.
Documents Required for PG Admission Confirmation
Candidates must keep scanned copies of academic and identity proofs ready. The portal will not accept blurred or oversized files. Uploads must match the listed format and size limits.
The list of required documents is given below:
- Class 10 mark sheet and passing certificate
- Class 12 mark sheet and passing certificate
- Qualifying degree mark sheets of all semesters
- Provisional certificate or degree certificate (if issued)
- Government photo identity proof such as Aadhaar or PAN
- Recent passport-size photograph and signature scan
- Caste or category certificate (if applicable)
- EWS or non-creamy layer certificate (where applicable)
- Migration certificate (if from another university)

How to Pay the PG Admission Fee Online?
The admission fee must be paid only through the official portal. Offline payments at colleges are not accepted at this stage. The fee amount differs by programme and college.
Candidates can use net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. The portal generates a receipt after a successful payment. Candidates must save and print this receipt for records.
Failed payments should be retried from the portal dashboard. The portal records every attempt and shows the current payment status. Repeated failures should be reported to the helpdesk listed on the portal.
What If a Candidate Misses the Deadline?
The portal closes once the document upload and fee window ends. The allotted seat is then cancelled without further notice. The cancelled seat is added to the next admission round.
Candidates who miss the Second List window may try the spot round. The spot round runs only if seats remain vacant. Admission then follows category rules and the order of reporting.
Mumbai University usually releases two formal merit lists for PG admissions. A spot round may follow if seats remain vacant. Candidates should not delay action by waiting for further rounds.
Action Plan for Candidates
