Maharashtra CET Cell Commissioner Dileep Sardesai announced that the first attempt of MHT CET 2027 will be held between December 15, 2026, and January 15, 2027, aligning with JEE Main's January session.

The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) Cell plans to conduct the first attempt between December 15, 2026, and January 15, 2027. Commissioner Dileep Sardesai made this announcement to align the exam with national-level tests like JEE Main. This represents a major scheduling change for engineering and pharmacy aspirants across Maharashtra.
MHT CET 2027 will now be conducted twice yearly, allowing students to appear in one or both attempts with the better score considered for admission. The shift aims to give students an early opportunity to take an exam after completing their syllabus by December. This new structure benefits aspirants by providing flexibility and alignment with national entrance exam timelines.
MHT CET 2027 Important Dates
| Events | Dates |
|---|---|
| MHT CET 2027 First Attempt (Tentative) | December 15, 2026 – January 15, 2027 |
| MHT CET 2027 Second Attempt | To be announced later |

The Maharashtra CET Cell has introduced a biannual examination structure for academic year 2026-27. Students completing their Class 11 and 12 syllabus by December can now take the first attempt. The second attempt will follow later in the academic year, maintaining the current two-attempt system.
Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. For PCM group, students need Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For PCB group, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are required. Indian citizenship and Maharashtra domicile are mandatory for state quota seats.
How to Register for MHT CET 2027?
- Candidates can register online at the official CET Cell website, Maharashtra CET Cell Official Website.
- Click on "New Candidate Registration" and fill in personal details, educational qualifications, and contact information.
- After successful registration, candidates receive a login ID and password for further application steps.
MHT CET consists of three question papers with 100 marks each, totaling 300 marks. Each paper contains 50 multiple-choice questions with no negative marking. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology) papers are conducted separately with 90 minutes allocated per paper.

Preparation Strategy for December-January Attempt
Students should complete their Class 11 and 12 syllabus by October 2026 to allow time for revision. Focus on high-weightage chapters from Maharashtra State Board curriculum. Practice previous years' question papers and take regular mock tests to familiarize yourself with the exam format and time management.
Why This Schedule Change Matters
Commissioner Sardesai stated, "Students finish their syllabus by December every year. JEE is conducted in the third week of January. So we want to conduct the first attempt of CET before JEE." This alignment allows students to attempt MHT CET before competing in national-level exams, reducing exam pressure and providing multiple opportunities.
Current MHT CET 2026 Performance Data
