MHT CET 2026 Records 11.4 Lakh Registrations for PCM & PCB; Highest in Four Years

The increase in applications coincides with the introduction of the two-attempt system, which allows candidates to appear for the examination twice in a single admission cycle.

MHT CET 2026 Records Over 11.4 Lakh Registrations

The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) 2026 has recorded its highest-ever participation in the past four years, with over 11.43 lakh students registering for the PCM and PCB groups. The surge in applications follows the State Common Entrance Test Cell's introduction of a two-attempt system for the entrance examination, giving candidatesan additional opportunity to improve their scores.

According to the State CET Cell, a total of 11,42,610 candidates have registered for MHT CET 2026 across both attempts for the PCM and PCB streams combined. Out of these, 7,60,981 candidates belong to the PCM group, while 3,81,629 candidates are registered under the PCB group.

In 2025, around 4,64,262 students had registered for PCM. This year, the first attempt alone saw 4,74,656 PCM registrations, which is an increase of 10,394 candidates, around 2.24% higher than last year.

Two-Attempt System Introduced for MHT CET 2026

The two-attempt format was introduced from the 2026 academic session, aligning the state entrance test with national-level examinations such as JEE Main, which also allows multiple attempts in a year. Under the new system, students can appear in one or both sessions, and the best score obtained will be considered for the final merit during the admission process.

MHT CET 2026 Exam Dates

The CET Cell will open the MHT CET 2026 application form correction window from March 5 to March 7. According to the official schedule, the first attempt for the PCM group will be held from April 11 to April 19, while the second attempt is scheduled from May 14 to May 17.

For the PCB group, the first attempt will take place from April 21 to April 26, followed by the second attempt from May 10 to May 11.
