New Delhi: As per the latest updates, Mahindra University has taken the initiative to improve its campus environment by installing a Weather and Air Quality Monitoring Station. This step is taken as a part of a collaboration with Bronx Community College (BCC) of City University of New York (CUNY) and the U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad.
Mahindra University shared that the establishment of a state-of-the-art Weather and Air Quality Monitoring Station will enhance the data points supplied by the program's network of weather stations throughout India and overseas. It will aim to promote environmental sustainability and international cooperation.
Mr. Alexander McLaren, Public Affairs Officer of the United States Consulate shared that the partnership between Mahindra University, Bronx Community College, and the United States Consulate highlights the importance of international cooperation to address global environmental issues.

Principal Investigator of the project, Prof. Paramita Sen of BCC/CUNY said, "These opportunities for U.S. and Indian institutions to collaborate around the issue of climate change will lead to innovations that can help mitigate the problem. This collaborative endeavour reflects the shared commitment of Mahindra University, the U.S. Consulate, and Bronx Community College, CUNY towards building a sustainable and climate-resilient world.”
Expressing his gratitude on this occasion, Dr Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor of Mahindra University said, "The inauguration of this weather and air quality monitoring station underscores our dedication to environmental sustainability and nurturing international partnerships. This endeavour will not only provide invaluable data for research but also equip our local communities with current weather information."
Dr. Anirban Ghosh, Professor & Head of the Centre for Sustainability added, "The weather monitoring equipment on our campus will build awareness about climate change and air quality among our students, faculty and other stakeholders. This initiative aligns with our mission to integrate sustainability into our curriculum and research activities.”
