New Delhi: Mahindra University joins hands with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to participate in the Greening Education Partnership, the secretariat of which is hosted by UNESCO’s Headquarters in Paris. The collaboration aims to achieve the development of curriculum and communities and the training of teachers in schools to support sustainability.
Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor of Mahindra University says that “Education is a powerful motivation for change, and by integrating climate education into our curricula and learning environments, we can inspire a new generation of climate champions who are equipped to drive meaningful action. Our partnership with UNESCO to become a part of the Greening Education Partnership reaffirms our dedication to equipping learners with the tools they need to address climate change head-on.”
Through this collaboration, Mahindra University will participate in the Greening Education Partnership’s platform for sharing best practices, contributing to global efforts and developing innovative educational resources to help future generations build a sustainable future.
What are the objectives of the Collaboration?
The collaboration aims to develop a high-quality curriculum and pedagogy on climate change education. If further tries to integrate climate education into the existing teaching curriculum. The university aims to enhance the capacity of education systems and educators to support sustainability through training and professional development.
The major objective of the University behind the collaboration is to incorporate climate education into the existing educational systems and raise awareness against climate change. This will further ensure lifelong learning and empower youth-led climate action to build climate-resilient communities.
