LNMU PhD Admission 2025

Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU) is inviting applications for PhD programs for the 2025 session based on the PAT (PhD Admission Test) - 2023 examination. Candidates who have passed the PAT-2020, PAT-2021, and PAT-2022 will be exempted from the PAT-2023 examination.

The PAT-2023 examination is scheduled for March 1, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:45 pm. The results will be published on March 12, 2025.

LMNU PAT Registration Fee

The registration fee for the PhD entrance examination is non-refundable.

LMNU PAT Eligibility Criteria

  • Master's Degree with at least 55% marks its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale in the relevant subject/allied subject.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks will be allowed for SC/ST/BC/EBC/Differently-abled candidates.
  • Candidates can apply for PAT-2023, who passed the Master's degree up to academic session 2021-23.

Exemption from PAT

  • Candidates who have passed NET/JRF/BET/PAT-2020, 21 & 22 of LNMU.
  • Candidates who have secured grants for research such as fellowships/ scholarships offered by DBT/ICMR/ICAR/DST/CSSIR/ICHR etc.
  • Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor who has been appointed on substantive post in the UGC pay scale in the teaching department of the University or a Constituent College of this University.
    • Must have completed their probation successfully.
    • Must have an experience of at least two years of uninterrupted service.
  • Teachers appointed in self-finance courses and teachers belonging to those colleges running on a self-finance basis will not be exempted.
  • Non-teaching employees of this University
    • Holding substantive appointments for more than five years
    • Must have secured at least 55% marks in Master's Degree in the subject concerned
    • Published at least two research papers in any reputed referred journals or journals identified by the UGC.
  • Candidates who have passed the PAT-2020 or PAT-2021 & 22.

Candidates exempted from PAT-2023 are also required to apply online with the requisite fee. Additionally, candidates of exempted categories will have to appear directly before the interview board as per the schedule, along with candidates who have qualified for PAT-2023.

LMNU PAT Exam Pattern

PAT-2023 will consist of two papers of 100 marks each. Tests of both papers will be held in a single sitting of two hours and forty-five minutes. There is no negative marking on any of the papers.

  • Paper I will be conducted from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm and will consist of 50 MCQs on qualitative teaching and research aptitude.
  • Paper II will be conducted from 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm and will also consist of 50 MCQs from the Core Course/Paper-1 to Core Course/Paper-14 of the PG Subject/ Program concerned.
