Lamrin Tech Skills University Launches Two BTech Programs with IBM and Employability.life; Check Details Here

New Delhi: The Lamrin Tech Skills University, Punjab has successfully introduced a BTech Program in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on design and production in collaboration with Employability.life, and BTech in Computer Science and Engineering with IBM.

These four-year BTech Programs place a strong emphasis on real-world projects through Project Based Learning (PBL) and have a program structure of 2.5 years+0.5 years+1 years. During this time, students will study core and advanced technologies before working on real-world projects from industry and spending a year on the job.

Speaking at the event, Dr Sandeep Singh Kaura, Chancellor of Lamrin Tech Skills University, Punjab, said that this partnership between industry and academia will create a learning ecosystem that is in line with Hon'ble PM Modi's vision for Industry 4.0. 

It will lead India as the world's skill capital by giving young people in India a platform for developing skills and making them employable in both domestic and international markets. Dr Kaura added that the sector is putting an emphasis on practical production and job deployment.

Dr Kaura also mentioned that students must have at least 70% to apply for IBM program, while the Employability.life program requires a minimum of 60% marks. The university will make sure that the cost does not become a barrier for deserving students from low-income backgrounds. 

To suit the needs of the students, the university has partnered with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to provide simple, collateral-free financing. Modern amenities and infrastructure are also available, he further explained.

This year, the LTSU hopes to enrol 6,000 students across all of its courses. This would help the students realise their goals and select the course they desired for a successful career. The majority of these programs will be residential, and good dorm facilities will be available.

Dr Kaura stated that the university has a capacity for 1360 intake under various programs of the Centre of Excellence (CoE), 3500 seats are offered under the Centre of Specialised Training (CoST), and government-funded 4000 seats are offered under the Centre of Vocational Training (CoVT), along with 1000 seats under the Learn & Earn program.

Speaking about this initiative, CEO of Employability, Mr Supriyo Chaudhuri.Life said, “We are thrilled to work with LTSU to offer the ground-breaking, first-of-its-kind in India, employer-engaged Agile-projects-based Engineering degree”.

The students enrolled in this degree will engage in group projects that involve resolving problems from real life and interface with industry and subject matter experts. They will master professional skills through Employability and gain expertise in their field.

The participants will also receive internationally acknowledged Experiential Micro-Credentials (XPMCs) while they complete their degrees from LTSU, supported by worldwide strategic partner, Federation University. 

The relationship between LTSU and the National Skill Development Corporation was described in depth by Prof. B. S. Satyal, Registrar of LTSU. He added that thousands of candidates from 27 Indian states had already registered for IBM's BTech CSE admission exams.

Only deserving students are shortlisted for the program; following this, they must pass an entrance exam administered by IBM. On the basis of their performance, they are given admission to the BTech CSE with a speciality program.
